The Department of Education’s RIF’ed lawyers are collecting their personal belongings Monday 12-1pm, at 500 12th street SW — not the main building. Let's steer some folks their way for a clap out. Right now they’re assuming no one will show up for them and planning to make their own signs 😢

By summer it’ll probably be a good idea to have enough money at hand outside of your bank to survive for an extended period, have your passports or travel docs in order, identify your nearest border crossing, and make arrangements for extended outdoor living situations. #3E

If you're traveling into the USA... understand that the border (incl airports) is a gray area. A lot of our rights do not attach to you until your passport is stamped. Customs and Border Authorities can take your phone right out of your hands (and they will) and search it, they search bags, etc...🧵

I've been in this situation many times. Once, I was held for 2-weeks before my embassy was allowed to visit me and ultimately, I was admitted into that country! In the USA however decisions are made quickly, rarely longer than 24 hours. One more thing I want to bring up—asylum.

I’ve been avoiding it but here’s my promise to do an AMA at 35k followers, so let’s see how long it takes to get there!!!!

The administration is removing phone support for Soc Security recipients. Making it more difficult for seniors to get their checks. It’s a back door way to cut SS benefits. Horrific.

If you know anyone who is impacted, please help them get online to get their benefits approved

Congress has authorized TSA to develop a program called One-Stop Security at six U.S. airports. The program eliminates the requirement for travelers to collect and recheck luggage, then go through security after arriving from an international flight and connecting to a domestic one.
International flight connections are about to get a little easier
A trial program for One-Stop Security lets passengers skip a second screening between customs and their connecting flight.

A shutdown is necessary to preserve and protect our democracy. We can not sustain this oligarch's slash & burn strategy.
They have taken food away from children, stripped jobs from families & have taken direct aim at your social security. We must draw a hard line and hold it.

Dear Senators,

Do not hand over our democracy because you are afraid of owning the shutdown. We will remember if you sell us out. We will support you if you support us.
