Excited to share a big milestone, the Verma Lab divijvermalab.com is now OPEN @einsteinmededu.bsky.social

We study how environmental exposures & inflammation drive stem-cell dysfunction and cancer.

Grateful to mentors Amit Verma & @steidluli.bsky.social .

For our #flowcytometry peeps, would you like to have a single fix/perm protocol that is optimised for everything? One that preserves fluorophores while allowing simultaneous TF and cytokine staining? How about 100-fold cheaper?

You got it:

Oh I really hope this remains!
Good news. The House of Representatives stands behind the NIH budget with no cuts.

We are deeply saddened to share that our friend and colleague Jim Hudspeth passed away on Saturday. We will remember and continue to be inspired by Jim’s integrity, his humility, and his unwavering commitment to discovery.

NEW: In June, ProPublica reported that the FDA has given more than 20 foreign factories a special pass to send drugs to the U.S. even though they were made at plants the agency had banned.

Today, we’re publishing a list of those exempted drugs.
The FDA Let Substandard Factories Ship These Medications to the U.S.
ProPublica identified more than 150 products that were exempted from import bans since 2013. Our list provides the names of the drugs or ingredients and their manufacturers, many of which are no longe...

Editorial rejection from journal 2 today. This one stung a little, but that’s the game. I have to remember that my PhD paper was passed up by 4-5 journals before getting reviewed! I just gotta keep trying.

Editorial rejection from journal A… but suggested transfer to good journal option B! Now we wait (again). Happy 4th of July weekend!

Submitted a paper today! It’s out of our hands at this point and up to the editors/reviewers. But I’m proud of the work that went into it, no matter the outcome! I just have to hope others see the science as worthwhile and interesting. Thankful for all the support from co-authors and colleagues.

Just put the final touches on my NIA K22 application. It’s ready to submit; I just have to hope science is still being funded come 2026. Getting the K22 could really help in these uncertain times! I’m optimistic and eager to start my independent research program.

Scientists are now organizing events, called Stand Up for Science, on 7 March in Washington, D.C., and state capitals.

So far, they have attracted more than 100 volunteers from some 30 states who are hoping to rally support for research as a public good. scim.ag/4328LAD

I’m glad there’s another effort to show support for science. I remember the March for Science a few years back during my PhD.
Welcome to the Bluesky account for Stand Up for Science 2025!

Keep an eye on this space for updates, event information, and ways to get involved. We can't wait to see everyone #standupforscience2025 on March 7th, both in DC and locations nationwide!

This is super cool and wild! Neuro-immune signaling in the gut causes ILC2s to travel to the pancreas and induce the production of glucagon.

The immune system shapes body metabolism, while interactions between peripheral neurons and immune cells control tissue homeostasis and immunity. However, whether peripheral neuroimmune interactions o...

Bought an external hard drive to help with data management for my MacBook Pro at home and backup important files. My mind was blown that I got a 2 TB SSD and this is the size! With my thunderbolt 3 ports it gets nearly 1GB/second transfer speeds. Backed up my 175GB sequencing data in 4 minutes. 🤯
