I want to treat "Roman Helmet Guy" as a serious interlocuter, and I want to do it as someone who does what might be called "New Military History," applying cultural studies to military history (religious violence and apocalypticism during wars): you can't study war without studying people.

Please colleagues speak to the impact that all Americans will feel if NCAR is dismantled! It truly would be widespread and this message may resonate more broadly than the obvious impact to the science community alone!

8° for a low this morning at DIA = coldest Denver temp since Feb. 20 (283 days ago).

Average first single digit low in Denver: Dec. 1. So basically right smack average.

It’s officially Denver’s first snow of the season!

A whopping 0.2” at DIA = we’re on the board. First measurable snow since April 18 (225 days).

❄️ 2nd-latest first snow of the season (12/10/21).

❄️ 225 snowless days = T-3rd-longest snowless on record for Denver.

Only the 16th time on record that's happened, last in 2021.

Here's a gift link to the New York Times' coverage of the initial Tea Party rallies in April 2009 which inspired the media to treat it like a massive movement.

Check out how tiny the crowds were:

Philly: 200
DC: "several hundred"
Boston: 500
Austin: 1,000
Houston: 2,000

The networks took the much smaller Tea Party movement so seriously they broadcast a Tea Party rebuttal to Obama’s 2011 SOTU on top of the normal GOP one.
Reminder: We spent YEARS reading thousands and thousands of articles on the Tea Party and how it was a true expression of the American people's will, and it never mounted anything nearly as big as Saturday's No Kings rallies. [1/3]

If you are confident that a boat near Venezuela is carrying drugs, you stop it and board it. That way, you have evidence.

If you don't really care if a boat near Venezuela is carrying drugs, but you just want to kill people, you blow the boat up. That way, the irrelevant evidence is gone.
