Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

It's insane how congestion pricing in NYC has been just about *the* most unambiguously successful new policy implemented in my lifetime and still all the dumbest people in government want to get rid of it
Some stats from 100 days in on congestion pricing:
- Complaints about car-honking are down 70%
- The Holland Tunnel has 65% fewer delays at rush hour; time to get thru it is down 48%
- 6 million fewer cars
- Half as many traffic-related injuries
- 1.5 million more visitors to BIDs year over year
How Well Is Congestion Pricing Doing? Very.
One hundred days in, honking is down; bus speeds are up.

To preserve our humanity, I think it's important to be offline more. The truth is we can get all the news we need in one or two sittings a day, and then decide what to do about it, one day at a time. Platforms like this one can be helpful, but like everything else in life, dosage matters!

Americans will go on vacation to a place that isn’t a car sewer, walk and take public transit for 8-12 hrs. a day, notice a change in their health, and attribute it to “they must not have the Illuminati chemicals here”
Ainsley Earhardt makes a case for RFK Jr: "When you go to Europe, the food is delicious. It's so fresh. And you don't gain weight if you eat a big bowl of pasta. So we want that to come here to America."

The reason the average American voter is apathetic to public transit is that they’ve never seen it work well.

We see transit as a welfare program and not something that can actually move a lot of people quickly and conveniently.

Remember this picture every time you hear someone in your city say "we're not Amsterdam."

This was #Amsterdam in the 1970s.

Many of the cities we admire made better choices regarding cars in the past. and are still making better choices today.

Better choices instead of excuses.

“The phenomenon is known as induced demand. The result is an endless cycle in which congestion leads to highway expansion, which invites more trips, which brings back traffic…The pattern is so inevitable that economists have dubbed it the iron law of congestion.”

This is what happens when you actually let developers build housing.

In Austin, rent has dropped 15% from its peak and buildings are offering multiple months FREE! 🤯
