Imagine if a steel mill said “but if we had to pay for the coal and iron ore we use to make steel, we couldn’t survive”. That’s basically AI companies today.

It kills me to agree with Rand Paull. And it's damn illegal.

One of the (many) legal gaps that needs to be filled after this nightmare is over is to prohibit federal law enforcement agencies from using federal funds to create propaganda videos with anyone in custody. This is all about spectacle and content creation, remove the incentive and the means

Weird how that didn’t make the cut.

We really need to be thinking abt the current regime through the lens of the Second Klan, which helped to nationalize systems of Jim Crow state & vigilante violence & exploitation while creating an explicitly white nationalist immigration system. They even paraded down Pennsylvania Ave.
A 1926 klan parade marching down Pennsylvania Ave. The front of the column holds banners that read Connecticut & Rhode Island. Original available via the Library of Congress. https://www.loc.gov/pictures/item/2001706338/

I’m a career prosecutor who took a $25,000 check from an affiliated entity of Donald Trump’s while investigating Trump University and later left my lobbying firm to become Donald Trump’s personal impeachment lawyer, White House aide, and Attorney General. So don’t you DARE question my integrity.

Bondi to Blumenthal: "You lied. How dare you? I'm a career prosecutor. Don't you ever challenge my integrity. Do not question my ability to be fair and impartial."

Fix the tax system and get rid of tariffs first. Another one-off simply won't cut it.

Stephen Miller asks when in our history have we tolerated unlawful, riotous assemblies around government buildings

This is so great. There is one thing all dictators and authoritarians cannot abide, and that is being made fun of. We should all get one of these costumes to protest in.
reasonmatters.bsky.social
Honest question: is he dropping acid? Cause he sure sounds like he is hallucinating. There is no far left in the U.S. Miller can't get his mind around the fact that over half the country hates his policies. So, like the Supreme Court, he just makes shit up. Why are TV news shows putting him on air?

Grift is the operative word. If that means cozying up to fascist-friendly Silicon Valley billionaires whose belief in their intellectual superiority is without foundation (something she shares with them), no problem. It's all about getting in on the grift.

I worked in telecom in the 90s when satellite phones were the next big thing. Investments poured into those firms. Speaking to just one engineer working in those firms would have educated analysts that they would not be viable. AI has the same vibe: a legal scam that makes a few people very rich.

In some case where Trump's venom is relevant, Roberts will say: "The issue is not whether to denounce Trump's statements. It is instead the significance of those statements in reviewing a Presidential directive, neutral on its face, addressing a matter within the core of executive responsibility."

No President should ever stoke this kind of division and dehumanize the other half of the country in this way.
The image shows two X posts. The first, by Juliette Kayyem (@juliettekayyem
) from 1 hour ago, states: "'Take care of' is not subtle. This weekend the ground has shifted and no person can deny what the president, unpopular and unfit, intends. To remain silent is to welcome this. They can both sides or claim they didn't hear, but there is no wiggle room about his plans now." The second, by Aaron Rupar (@atrupar
) from 6 hours ago, quotes Trump addressing the Navy: "We have to take care of this little gnat that's on our shoulder called the Democrats." The post includes a photo of Trump speaking to a group in Navy uniforms, with a caption noting he "called the Democrats. They want to give all of our money to illegal."

This is the only explanation I can come up with for their repeated assertion that the US military went "woke" starting right after World War II.
sifill.bsky.social
So say it, Hegseth.

President Truman desegregated the military in 1948. That would be when the “wokeness” began, huh?

Say it.

Trump: "We won World War 1. We won World War 2. We won everything in between. We won everything before. And all of the sudden they decide to change the name. They went woke then too, you know. Woke is a long term. Word."

Democratic Senators and Congresspeople need to start addressing these accusations every day in press conferences & explain that they are both egregious lies & a prelude to even worsre state violence than that happening in Chicago.

Dem voters want to see leadership! Talk about more than insurance.

Can Miller really believe this? If so, he is delusional. If not, then he’s a reprehensible demagogue.

If you are a man.

Ghislaine Maxwell is a heinous person, but Epstein was so much worse. He got the best deal imaginable on his first trial and conveniently died before the second. Maxwell got 20 years. But her access to powerful men may reduce it to time served. Disgusting all around.
