I just love how the claims from guys like Tom Brevoort and Dan Slott about how fans wouldn't care about the marriage going away and it would be forgotten about it in 5 years and new fans would be more drawn to a single Spider-Man, only for *actual* new fans to come along and prove them wrong.

This kind of speaks to a larger issue I feel in that it was a mistake in the 2000's to move towards a "Rock Star Writer" template spearheaded by Quesada at Marvel and downplay the importance of the artists in the process.
Artists seem more emotionally connected with the needs of the audience.

You know, I think its very interesting that in the current situation with ASM, its the *artists* who are leading the charge in regards to speaking out or trying to smooth things over with the fans, while the writers are the ones trying to dismiss any criticism altogether.

I love how for every other franchise there's like this brief shelf life for something before its quickly forgotten about, but when it comes to Spider-Man newcomers who are made aware of OMD and Paul all agree that both f*cking suck.

Brevoort's entire personality screams as someone stuck in the "Too cool for you" era of the late 2000's. Where openly dismissing and insulting the fandom was the "Cool" thing to do.
