Hey I tried to whip up a moral panic against you and now people are being mean to me. Can you please accept total responsibility for the behavior of a bunch of strangers and also admit it's your fault I'm being yelled at?

Blessed are the frogs, for they keep making authoritarians look incredibly stupid
Three persons in inflatable frog costumes. One of them is holding a nicely painted sign with two little cartoon frogs holding hands, below the text "FROGS TOGETHER STRONG"

So I was reading a bit more about Tengu, the kind of Japaense demon Starscream's been done up as, and I've realised he's got extra turbine-nipples to look the pom-poms on the harnesses of the mountain hermits whose garb the Tengu's is modelled after. So you can't say they haven't worked at this!

Can't say I begrudge the impulse to filter everything through ATLA.

If they're going off of character design, maybe? But *wow*.

Whatever happens in Death Spiral, I'm sure it will be a bridge that these books needed to cross. I'll wait and hear what happens, but I'm going to try and be hopeful that the aftermath will at least be more appealing.
phantomroxas.bsky.social
And a crossover, even one that looks to be weekly throughout late February to April, would accomplish that.

I'm not going to act like this will be a magic fix. I also won't be so demanding that I'll dismiss this crossover out of hand for not being "enough". I've expected a bottleneck.

And that cut both ways. ASM couldn't use MJ a certain way because of Venom, but Venom was using MJ because ASM's plans were up in the air. It's speculation, but it led me to one place: Both books needed to share a point where they can progress *together*.
phantomroxas.bsky.social
Without getting into what I haven't already yapped about, to make a long story short, I have felt like ASM and Venom, Peter and Mary Jane, have been in a holding pattern, at least for the past year and a half. Maybe longer. One book dancing around problems because it's waiting on the other.

Okay, the crossover (Left out that word in the quoted post) has *finally* been announced, and it's especially relevant to the third image.

I'm trying to figure out how to put my feelings about this. I'm... leaning towards hopeful.
Cover for the "Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral" one-shot. The cover features Spider-Man in the center. Carnage (Eddie Brock) is in the bottom left corner, and Venom (Mary Jane Watson) is in the bottom right. In the background, a new villain looms over them: Torment, whose skin is mostly white, save for a blood red spiral carved across their body.

Feels like Ahmed may take over ASM after Kelly.

There's an Amazing Spider-Man annual coming with work from Saladin Ahmed, Joe Kelly, Federico Vincentini and more, with a cover by Francesco Mobili. That will be in January of 2026.

Sitting down for Marvel's Spider-Man And His Venomous Friends panel at NYCC! Will it go off the rails like last year's panel? Let's find out, shall we?

It's too specific of a coincidence that I can't help but wonder whether it's intentional. If an artist draws 80% of a script, but *consistently* not the 20% that's about MJ, how does that just happen that way? Are her scenes added in late, and Nauck is easy to fill in the gaps, or was it planned?
phantomroxas.bsky.social
I want to know what John Romita Jr. and Ed McGuinness's problem is that Todd Nauck keeps being brought in just to draw Mary Jane. Because from what I can tell, over the past three years, you'll abruptly have fill-in pages *just* for MJ, and they're usually drawn by Nauck.

Probably a hot take, but while Thanos was actually intended to be a ripoff of Darkseid, I think Apocalypse is just as heavily "inspired" by Darkseid.

Wait, silly me, it would be Queen Alpha Lightseid, Anti-Paladin of Liberty who serves as the brain of the Uncertain Universe, which was once known as the Thisworld. We saw that in Finite Frontier, the sequel to Light Days: Country Western.
