Setting up expectations and shared values of the group you are chairing can be helpful. For example, agreeing ways of working and communicating. Having defined role profiles for each person in the group will facilitate the distribution of workload, and is a good way of managing peoples expectations.

Things like going around the room and allowing each person to speak without being interrupted before discussion.

Monitoring the chat for people putting ideas in there when they don't want to speak up.

One big value action I've seen from introvert chairs is setting up meetings so that extroverts aren't the only 1s listened to.

Super easy for extrovert chairs to forget that the best ideas might not be the loudest.

Use yr knowledge of being an introvert to get the most out of quieter folks

Great question- I'm looking forward to other answers from more experienced meeting chairs. I've found that treating chairing as service helps - attendees want firm & fair chairing to feel in safe hands. Also think it's a performative role, so channelling it as performance helps my introversion.

Like Angela Bassett, I did the thing. I am knackered but yesterday morning I heard a group of 10 children screaming with excitement and suddenly everything was worth it.
