Did you know that, in so many ways, the Book of Deuteronomy is... liberation theology?

And that it's actually crafted as a bit of a 🖕 to the Assyrian Empire?

And that its power -- and its limits -- can teach us a so, so much about where we must be as we face down the Empire before us today?
Deuteronomy's Liberation Theology
how it can teach us to expand our vision for tomorrow

From Bronze Age Wales, the spectacular Mold Cape! 🤩

An incredible ancient feat of sheet-goldworking, beaten from a single gold ingot some 3,600 years ago!

The extraordinary embossed decoration is said to mimic strings of beads.

Every now and then I remember that sponges are ANIMALS — that these seeming hybrids of plant and rock; these sessile, porous, tissue-and-organ-less barrels, tubes, and blobs are just as much an animal as a falcon, wolf, or shark — and marvel once more at the wonderful weirdness of life on Earth.

Men or groups who possess unlimited power become drunk on that power; in no circumstances is unlimited power acceptable, and in reality, it is never necessary.

There is almost nothing in Tolkien as pervasive as his love for the small and vulnerable, for the meek and the gentle. These are not the values of these thugs and they do not have any claim to them.

The act that brings down Númenor is a punishment for Empire, for the audacity to believe you can seize dominion over others, for in fact having taken that even further than any living human had ever done before. It is not a heavy handed punishment from a disappointed father-god but a denazification.
