I think "fake it til' you make it" is genuinely a great bit of advice but people (understandably!) think it means "lie until you've duped everyone" when in reality it's much more "act like you belong here because you actually do and you need to get over yourself"

I think Ketanji Brown Jackson's dissents are an important exception to the "Supreme Court dissents don't matter" rule of thumb, because she is using them not to argue with the conservative justices, but to explain to the public that the conservative justices are liars and in the tank for Trump

Academia is a conservative, hierarchical institution & many folks are invested in these hierarchies. These are the same folks who think interdisciplinary fields like gender & ethnic studies lack rigor & pedagogical training is unnecessary.Yet, students are hungry for tools to analyze how power works
You trade your one base — the only power anyone really has — for a ticket to the cool heterodox study hall. And you want me to believe your discipline is blinded by its focus on social problems?? The part that said hey look at how power works?!
