Today Donald Trump attacked me by name in a speech at the Department of Justice. Of course I am worried, but courage comes from acting in spite of being worried. I have made my choice: I will continue to speak out, I will continue to litigate, I will continue to stand tall.

I will never bow down.

I care deeply about who Michigan will elect as Governor and send to the U.S. Senate next year, but I have decided against competing in either race.

I wrote more here about my decision and how I view the work required of us all in this moment:

We Democrats have one bit of leverage, the cloture vote, and some of our senators are giving it up and getting NOTHING in return. It’s like they don’t know how to negotiate.

It’s important to put a face to what canceling funding means. And to state the obvious, the government’s action against Columbia has nothing to do with fighting antisemitism.
I received one of the 232 NIH grant "terminations" sent to scientists at Columbia last night. My research focuses on improving maternal and child health in the US. Also affected: ongoing clinical trials, research training programs, and research centers that aim to improve the health of Americans.
Hundreds of research grants at Columbia canceled following Trump edict, administrator says
The National Institutes of Health is terminating 232 grants for scientific research at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, according to an email an administrator sent to faculty.

There are Congressional Republicans who are unhappy with DOGE, unhappy with Trump, unhappy with what happened in the Oval Office with Ukraine. But so far they have taken no action beyond some concern troll tweets.

Any 4 R senators and even fewer House Rs have enormous power but so far not using it.

We should be so proud of the NIH intramural program. The intramural scientists I know are brilliant, dedicated and productive. And now, it’s being destroyed.
More hits to #NIH:

"The Trump administration has imposed a new restriction on employment that could push out thousands of NIH’s senior scientists: The agency cannot retain scientists in 1-year to 4-year positions that have long been routinely renewed." 🧪

Great thread on the budget process by someone who
knows it well
House Rs just passed the budget resolution, the first step in their process to enact a bill that'd kick millions off Medicaid & cut SNAP down to just $1.60 per person per meal on avg while cutting taxes for the top 0.1% by $278k - all while increasing the debt

JANET MILLS: Yeah I'm here

T: You better do it bc you're not gonna get any federal funding at all

I wash someone had asked RFK, what chronic disease would you address that isn’t being studied? Because I can’t think of any that don’t have intense efforts, even whole Institutes dedicated to them.
“There’s never been an HHS Secretary who has come in and addressed this”, in reference to chronic disease.

He’s lying. Constantly. The vast majority of NIH research is directed at chronic disease.
