Clearly it's still a great time to start riding an E-bike in Toronto.

(And with a warm snow helmet & bar mitts / pogies, you can ride all year long very enjoyably).

Stolen Bike: recovered. (Last night a customer's bike was stolen from the front of the AGO before dark. They cut one lock but couldn't defeat the frame lock, and stashed it nearby. Lesson - Act quick. Use a tracker of some kind. Bring a friend. Lock your damn bike!)

Zero.

That’s the number of kilometres of new bike lanes proposed as part of the 2025.IE23.6 Cycling Network Plan - Second Quarter Update.

City Council meets tomorrow. Help us tell Council and the Mayor that this is a time for leadership:

The “E-Bike Effect:” Those who bought e-bikes increased their average daily bicycle use from 2.1km (1.3 miles) to 9.2km (5.7 miles), a 340% increase. The e-bike share of all their transportation increased dramatically too; from 17% to 49%.

E-bikes support fewer car trips.

They are not 'cheating,' but are serious transportation.

If anybody’s still having trouble drawing the line between Balance on Bloor/Protect Bathurst and some of the ugliest right wing conspiracy theorists in Toronto, it should should be easier now they’re doing it for you. #BikeTO #TTC #WalkTO #HarmReduction
Instagram post advertising a press conference held by the “Toronto Concerned Citizens Collective”, which includes Balance on Bloor, Protect Bathurst, Anthony Furey, Brad Bradford, and various organizations and politicians arguing against safe infrastructure, transit priority lanes, temporary housing for homeless seniors, the renaming of Sankofa Square, harm reduction, and a bunch of other stuff.

A group of high-profile individuals, including a Balance on Bloor rep, will be holding a press conference Tuesday where they'll advocate against bike lanes, bus lanes and more.

We'll be there to remind them of how unpopular and out-of-touch their views are.
Bike & bus lane counterprotest against out-of-touch reactionaries fighting for a worse Toronto.

Who they are:
The group “Toronto Concerned Citizens Coalition” is made up of out-of-touch, high-profile individuals using their influence and media connections to host a press conference trying to block progressive policies that improve our lives. Their agenda is:
- anti-cyclist
- anti-transit
- anti-environment
- anti-affordable housing
- anti-Indigenous
- anti-people
- pro-car centrism
- pro-criminalizing homelessness
- pro-pollution
- pro-exploitation
- pro-colonialism
- pro-inequality

“Cycling is fun, healthy & good for the environment. In overcrowded urban centres, the car — including the emission-free e-car — will only be accepted in the future if bikes have enough space in the mobility mix.” — Herbert Diess in 2021. He was CEO of Volkswagen (the car company) until 2022.
