Pets Tell Tales: Egypt is the first in a series of non-fiction comics explaining history from the point of view of the animals who helped, hindered, and were downright baffled by, humans

Thinking about pitching Absoluter Batman to DC.

Following the success of Absolute Batman asking the question, what if Batman was bigger, this series will ask the question, well, what if Absolute Batman was bigger.

I’ll accept my Eisners by post, thank you.

People sitting across from me on the train from London up to Scotland brought weird hotel-style slippers with them to wear on the way and then just left them for someone else to deal with. Seriously this is the Broken Britain David Cameron tried to warn us about.
Four abandoned white slippers underneath a train seat.

I’m pretty certain Axel Rose has not read The Master and Margarita, but his Woland is a much cheekier and sillier antagonist.

Look, since Halloween is coming it’s important to remember the Guns N Roses version of Sympathy for the Devil is better than The Rolling Stones’.

Adjust your playlists accordingly.

I think it's interesting in the comics space, because so many creators are already used to promoting and changing tactics to push books. So knowing what your sales are like is super useful.
But I also get publishers wanting to protect creators from the brutal reality of the industry.
rikworth.bsky.social
Ahhh, that’s useful to know. Obviously no where near that in Best Sellers Rank but we’ve got that in categories, so that’s a bonus!

We also sold out of our first print run apparently

Ahh great!
We’re feel a little dirty talking about amazon but it’s also the only regular metric we get.

And one day I’ll decipher its arcane, dark arithmetic!
rikworth.bsky.social
The advice is the be wary of Amazon rankings because they are frankly the work of madmen, but we did 2 school events in Leeds yesterday and it’s very rewarding to see Pets Tell Tales shoot up the rankings.

Full disclosure. I have no idea if they are actually related but I’ll take it!

Ahhh sorry, mate. Terrible news.

Hello America & Canada, it’s publication day for This Slavery!

It’s the story of two sisters living in 1910s UK who work in cotton weaving factories. It’s about women’s place in industrial capitalism, and how marriage can be about power & control.

It’s also an inch-thick comic with a dog in it

Off to speak to some schools about comics!

What a day!

“I voted for none of this."

Prominent influencers, including Theo Von, Joe Rogan, and Andrew Schulz, are starting to distance themselves from the president they helped propel to the White House.

genuinely unable to phrase my disgust at the situation where certain people have come to the conclusion that algorithms can perhaps maybe potentially be people but Palestinians are invariably and inescapably a collection of bothersome automatons

Again, we wrote most of Pets Tell Tales: Ancient Rome before the 2024 election. Certainly this sequence.

Pretty hard to deny I want to warn kids away from the dangers of autocracy and towards the excellence of TV on The Radio.
