A point that Wallerestein made often: as overall US power declines, it overplays its best card—military force. But each time it does so, it accelerates the decline of its overall power. SeeVietnam, Iraq. Violent coercion is the strength of the weak.

I deplore how the German and western political classes have abused Holocaust memory to the point that publics have lost faith in its lessons.
In the next contribution to our series on the Rise & Fall of the BRD, @dirkmoses.bsky.social explores the incipient end of Holocaust memory, and identifies German political and media institutions as the culprits: thediasporist.de/is-holocaust...

NSW Premier Minns has always been anti protest. His latest ban on peaceful assemblies & protests is racist & divisive. We will resist - silence on #genocide is unethical. Read this piece by Nick Riemer

Following on from @jennaprice.bsky.social's SMH article about Bondi, where she laments the appointment of Jillian Segal as Antisemitism Envoy, has anyone seen detailed coverage of how it came to pass, if any others were in contention etc etc? #auspol

What do we want? - "Social cohesion!"

When do we want it? - "Just after we finish booing our political opponents at a memorial service!"

That one might need a bit more work.

Seeing a lot of thoughts about the Bondi shooting and guns, especially from Americans. Some context: guns are not a fact of life in Australia. So much so it is hard to put into words how weird their presence is. The total lack of firearms in everyday life means we don't think about guns. Ever.

Don't you think the public has a reasonable expectation that the Commissioner of the NACC being paid well above $800,000 would consider this a full time job and not also seek to freelance outside of it?

It's either moral cowardice or collusion , no other choices.
NSW Minns gov: 'No Pride in Genocide' is a statement that's too political and that we can't be seen choosing sides on genocide

Already have 🙄

1. If America were fascist right now, I would not be posting here. Neither would you.

Instead, I - and you - would be trying to build networks of people *offline* who can support and protect each other, in the dark, rather than yelling at the president and his stooges in our own names. /2

The remedy for this is not new laws, but for the @nswpolice.bsky.social to administer + enforce the laws we have. Also for Catley to be replaced by someone at least half competent #nswpol
