Depositing into the Treasury is essential to assure it is traceable and is spent only by congressional appropriation rather than becoming a slush fund.

There is no left-wing violence in Chicago or Portland. It simply is not happening.

It's so not happening, in fact, that Republicans in Oregon took footage from two South American countries to create a hoax photo about Portland.

They have no actual violent footage to put forward.

One of the basic points in my new Dispatch piece on the right to record immigration raids and raiders is that ICE agents are already informally “enforcing” their disapproval of at-the-scene recording by roughing up journalists, freelance photographers, and others with cellphone cameras. /1

I feel weirdly calmed, too, as polar night approaches on Svalbard. The weird part is that I’m in California! 🤣

Seriously, I don’t think I’d enjoy polar night for a couple of months on end … but it would be fascinating to visit for a week or so. And the auroras must be amazing!

Between Sep. 22 — when Trump issued an EO claiming to designate antifa a "domestic terrorist organization" — and Sep. 30, ICE spent $29.4M on weapons & ammunition.

ICE spent more on weapons & ammunition in the last nine days of September than in any entire fiscal year, going back at least 17 years.
