I think there are still shared norms we can appeal to when we talk to the marginal MAGA voter. But there really are no shared norms left with the core of the movement.

USAA is offering its usual 5K loans FYI.

Amused that mid size firms are now advertising with things like “BigLaw Refugees Welcome” and “We stand for the rule of law, unlike your coward firm”.

I hope they bleed every competent attorney out.

Oh god all my fucking prayers. Nothing but me cursing all day but at least I’m around vets.

Dude wasn’t even recommended for ranger school, was he.

That was my other complaint. Like what happened to escalation?
mefcorv.bsky.social
Oh man I was ranting about that for a full fifteen minutes.

Also “you’re a bomber, why isn’t this whole place rigged to blow”
mefcorv.bsky.social
When you read the complaint, it becomes clearer that CBP was trying to do stupid shit to shake its followers, and it caused an accident, which they then assumed was a conspiracy and shot a woman for.

The whole thing took effort for me to suspend my disbelief. The guy is so paranoid that he won’t let [character] do this [normal thing], but then he doesn’t own a [thing every ex revolutionary owns even if they’re a fucking hippie now] and has to beg it from elsewhere?

The Constitution defines Treason as a) levying war against the United States, and b) giving aid and comfort to our enemies constitution.congress.gov/browse/artic...

Y'all, Trump is waging war against the United States. This is Treason.

The Founders were aware of the practicalities of military occupations and took steps to avoid them. They knew you had to house troops and couldn’t occupy long if no one wanted them there.

I used to get a chuckle out of the Third Amendment, ha ha what quaint 18th century tricornered hat problems to have, not so much anymore

area dort unaware of the fact that the founders didn't *want* soldiers in the streets

Lockjaw should have been an infiltrator, and they should have had a long term relationship, if they wanted to make things interesting, and have a plausible way for how they could have gotten her willing to “confirm”.

“Revolutionaries went too hard and didn’t accomplish anything, peaceful protest is where it’s at” I think.

There are also many moments where because the filmmakers do not understand who they are trying to portray, they have them do stupid things: like have high tech equipment when it’s cool, but not normal low tech necessary equipment. Or not demonstrate reasonable safety precautions.

There is a moment where a character threatens Perfidia’s revolution and her comrades. She has all the information and power to do something about it. In similar circumstances, black revolutionaries took such threats seriously. She doesn’t, instead opting for weird sex games because…no reason.

I was also ranting about this, like, at least create some plausible circumstances! But then I realized that the writers simply did not know anyone with enough lived experience to write this accurately.

It was impossible not to notice. I wanted to throw things at the screen in the theater.

NEW: Second, expanded TRO issued in Oregon case challenging Trump's National Guard deployment to the state bars any state or D.C. National Guard being deployed to Oregon.

Update at Law Dork: www.lawdork.com/p/judge-bloc...
[Update, 11:45 p.m.: By Sunday night, a second temporary restraining order was issued in the case, barring the Trump administration from sending any National Guard federalized under 10 U.S.C. 12406 to Oregon from any state or D.C. The move followed actions by the Trump administration overnight to send members of the California National Guard to Oregon and plans to do so as to the Texas National Guard as well.

At a hastily called hearing on Sunday night, Immergut harshly questioned the Justice Department lawyer before her, Eric Hamilton, asking him — while noting that he is an officer of the court — “Do you believe this is appropriate way to deal with my order?”

Issuing the second TRO in as many days in the case, Immergut called the Trump administration’s actions in apparent response to her first order “in direct contravention” of it.

Jesus fucking Christ can we have literally one day without this administration throwing tantrums whenever they lose in court and trying to burn everything down?

He makes it clear that he thinks judges owe fealty. If he appoints them, they should not be able to rule against him. The concept of a rule of law is so foreign to him he can’t even see it.

Trump on Portland ruling: I wasn’t served well by the people who pick judges. I appointed the judge and it goes like that. If he made that decision—Portland is burning to the ground… all you have to do is look at the TV and read your newspapers.

That judge ought to be ashamed of himself

(For everyone not actively trying to pick a legal fight with the govt this is great advice)
