BBC accused of 'extraordinary' anti-Green bias after party say the Laura Kuenssberg Show scrapped a promised interview with @zackpolanski.bsky.social on Sunday.

Green sources say the show also refused to interview Polanski after he was elected as leader last month

Wrongly. For example, Zack’s conversation videos in Clacton are nuanced and empathetic, not binary. It’s a sensationalist article.
robinfbennett.bsky.social
I don't see any comparison between what Zack is doing and Bannon/Farage, and the article does not provide evidence to that effect. He specifically does engage a diversity of views, for example in his podcast.

History shows that when democracies face crises, strengthening and reinvigorating democratic participation is essential to prevent democratic backsliding and the rise of authoritarianism. This is not that.

Starmer’s desperate rush for digital IDs is a recipe for repression

ID cards won’t reduce migration and will put trans rights at risk. But that’s not the biggest cost of Starmer’s half-baked scheme, says Cat MacLean

it's a shame, when the council have clearly done a good job with the adjacent Covered market. Plenty of retail options for local wizards, though!

I think I heard you mention that on a podcast- my kids are at school in Didcot right now! The book is brilliant, he’s an excellent writer. You can imagine the scenes..

I have to recommend "A Proper Gentleman"by Vernon Scannell, a book recounting his time as 'poet in residence' in Berinsfield, South Oxfordshire for a year in the early 1970s. It is both intentionally and unintentionally hilarious.

some nice 60s covers on there... my old band used to play 'tomorrow never knows' with Mark when we backed him in the early 2000s.

I’m sure he’s got a solid contract on that one..

The UK government is now prioritising the resource needs of Gen AI slop machines over… *checks notes*

Water. Actual water.

What will they not sacrifice at the altar of these plagiarism machine snake oilers??

AI boom means regulator cannot predict future water shortages in England
Datacentres, which do not have to report amount of water used to cool servers, leave Environment Agency with no idea of shortfalls

on 5 Live yesterday an Environment Agency spokesperson was telling people to delete old emails to save water... no mention of AI servers at all.

Powerful research with a clear message.

“Children are fascinated by the natural world. It’s maintaining that through their childhood and schooling that’s essential, alongside urban greening. There’s policies starting to do that but we’ve got to think in transformational terms – not 30% but 1,000%.”

My latest research looked at people’s relationship with nature since 1800, and created a model that accurately recreated that trend and looked forward to 2125 www.theguardian.com/environment/...

I came here to say this too.. hadn’t been to Cornmarket for a while and I was shocked to see them all last week.

and outside of cities? for example, all the priority schemes in the Didcot LCWIP have a (very loosely) estimated cost of £100m... multiply that by every town in the county plus strategic links between them and we could more than spend the whole UK allocation just in Oxfordshire

I think Kevin is making a different point - whether the emissions reductions are sufficient to hit Paris targets, etc - which they are not. But if people are aware that some reductions have actually been achieved, more chance of them being on board to try achieve more extensive reductions.
