Retired. Lapsed Northerner. Too old to be working, so isn’t. Mainly travelling, taking photos and wondering what to do with them all.

Why are the American president's claims about autism the first item on British news bulletins?

He's not our president, the advice doesn't apply here and he's not presented any evidence to support his assertions.

So why spread these claims? What make this the biggest story in the UK?

An absorbing and enlightening read.
'While Trump still commands the daily news cycle, he no longer commands the West... It is Europe that is becoming the new arsenal of democracy.'

Exceptional, morally urgent and utterly clear sighted column in the Telegraph. Yes, you read that right.

Just discovered the entire 12 seasons (22 episodes each) of NYPD Blue on Disney+. Oh joy of joys! Stands up pretty well still. Looks stunning on a decent telly and subtitles mean I can finally figure out what’s going on. Hail Kelly, Sipowiz, Fancy, Simone, Medavoy, Martinez… Time to dig in.

Long before they take their first steps, it seems that babies take a stand on architecture. Researchers have found that infants as young as four months favour the theatrical curves and elaborate ornamentation of baroque buildings over the stark minimalism of brutalist structures
Baroque or brutalist? Babies like buildings with bells and whistles

This interesting and useful warning about the creeping monetisation of unwanted AI does not have its credibility enhanced by the great big ad for ChatGPT plonked in the middle.

@bristolbeacon.bsky.social Are you seriously putting on two Americana giants on the same night but clashing - Sturgill in the Beacon and Chuck in the Lantern? Scheduling insanity on March 2nd!

@deck.blue Would love to use your product but your impenetrable login and verification thing has defeated me. It’s asking for a verification code but no facility for a resend and even generating a new app password won’t fix it. Sayonara.

Does anyone else find it crazy that you can walk into a bookshop and be charged £7.99 for a paperback novel that took the author a year to complete, but £16.99 for a completely blank notebook?
