Really enjoying Death by Lightening. It hits a lot of my historical nerdiness.

Wonder if anyone will do a follow-up on Chester A. Arthur - was he or was he not born in America/

If it's appropriate to honor shooting victims by having a moment of silence at American sporting events, then there should be a moment of silence at every American sporting event every single day.

the intensity of my anger at those who would criminalize the homeless — a population literally created by the greed and callousness of the ruling class — is very hard to contain. it was you who dismantled the safety net. if you don’t like the results, put it back

Reporter: I have lived in the DC area for almost 50 years now. The most violent moment in my life was January 6th, 2021, when Trump's supporters charged into the Capitol and beat cops. Trump's response to that was to pardon everyone who was involved

Just got back from Europe, where gorgeous third spaces and generous public services abound. Americans are so terrified that The Undeserving might get something that they'd rather have nothing for anyone. Why THAT is the case is another question.

But probably racism.

I'm frequently told that criticizing democrats "only helps Trump" but does it help him more than giving unanimous consent to his psychotic cabinet nominees so you get a four-day weekend and free trip to Munich does?

I this every time I see a request for help with healthcare expenses.
I don't want to sift through gofundme appeals. I want to pay progressive taxes and fund a safety net for everyone.

I ride the bus in the winter when the roads are snowy. I'm always surprised at how empty the buses are. I mean, it's easy to get a seat, but why drive in bad weather when a professional can get you there with little stress?

Deleted over 100 emails, sent almost daily from Macy's, about a "one day" sale. If you are sending so many out, just call it a sale.
With the end of the year, and many with time off, now is the time to clean out those inboxes and unsubscribe from all those businesses you don't want to hear from.

Met a lady this weekend who is 101. She lives at my dad's assisted living facility. She has 19 years on Dad, and is both physically and mentally healthier than my father. Was truly a joy to meet her and hear her stories. Everyone there is so proud of her longevity, that they kept introducing us.

Just applied to be a compost ambassador for my city. Looking at local ways to have an impact and do good. While the rest of the world goes to shit, I can at least make productive use of the waste.

Let's all just be gentle with ourselves and each other today. I know I need to get some rest. And to recharge for whatever comes next.

Looking forward to trick-or-treating tonight. We are the full-sized candy bar house this year. It's going to be warm, and hopefully busy on our often disregarded street. Hopefully batgirl Velma won't be disappointed for lack of visitors. I don't want those candy bars in my house after tonight.

Because the world is a wee bit intense right now, I'm focusing on costumes and giving out chocolate the little ones this week. Best day in my neighborhood is Halloween. I hope the rain gives us a break on Thursday.

Halloween costume procured. We are going with the theme of music. Husband was very helpful in pulling a something great together. When we walked in the store, I had no idea what I would be wearing, but I think I have a solid costume. To Be Continued...

Used the e-bike daily while recovering from foot surgery. Now I can't stop riding it to work, even with a perfectly good road bike right there. Getting the extra 10-15 minutes in the morning before I have to leave is so enticing. But I'm not getting the cardio I need. Bike world problems, I know.

Because of a gorgeous outfit photo that @tressiemcphd.bsky.social posted awhile back, I am now wearing one of the most comfortable and stylish outfits I've ever owned from Aday. Thanks for sharing your cute outfit and turning me on to some lovely clothing.

In honor of Joe Manchin retiring, let’s remember the fact that he single-handedly ended the Child Tax Credit, one of the most effective anti-poverty pieces of legislation in recent history, because he thought parents would use that money for drugs.
