Mostly here for the politics and football. Pretty woke, hate injustice and oppression. Still think Brexit was a stupid idea. #FBPE. #LFC and Eastleigh Spitfires. Season ticket holder at both.

Lord Heseltine, "The number of people aged below 50 who think it was right for us to leave the European Union, is less than 20%

"The latest polls tells us 56% now believe it was mistake to leave the European Union"

Hands up if you are one of the 56% 🙋‍♂️

At some point in the future, a government somewhere will decide it's acceptable collateral damage to allow its citizens to die from lack of water, rather than let a data centre overheat. Judgement day will have arrived.

Bill Gates: $106B | Microsoft: $3.9T
Jeff Bezos: $232.5B | Amazon: $2.3T
Larry Page: $204.2B | Google: $2.84T
Mark Zuckerberg: $243.5B | Meta: $1.8T

Can someone please explain why on earth we’re paying the power & water bills for their data centers?

We would like to thank Kristi Noem for bringing cameras with her everywhere and collecting evidence for her future trial at The Hague.

On the other hand: stamp duty is a brake on property speculation - buying to sell on in six months making a profit from rising prices. So, scrapping it incentivises this behaviour, which makes prices more volatile and bubbles more likely.

Unbelievable that TikTok & Insta are amplifying 1970s ‘jokes’ about N*****s & P***s to a whole new generation.

Bernard Manning, of all people, is back in fashion…

I don't think first time buyers and upsizers gain from a stamp duty cut - house prices quickly adjust upwards when stamp duty reduces the cost of buying

Anybody who thinks cutting stamp duty is going to help them buy a house, is a mug. All stamp duty cuts do is increase house prices. Then who pays for the lower tax revenues? - that's right, the poor, the sick and the vulnerable. The rich just enjoy the uplift in asset prices.

Lords Heseltine & Kinnock seem more alive to these self-evident truths than most members of the Commons. Similarly, I find thinkers with direct lived experience of far right dictatorship, Greeks of a certain age for example, crystal clear about what’s happening now.

“You described Reform and other parties across Europe today as among the 'right wing equivalents of the fascists in the 1930s'. Why?”

“Because that’s what they are”

@vicderbyshire.bsky.social asks Lord Heseltine about remarks he made at Conservative Party Conference.

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

Make no mistake - not one defection to Reform is about policy or leadership. It’s about hanging on for all it’s worth to the prospect of a job. These defectors - no matter which party they are coming from - have all the fvcking morals and principles of an alley cat!

Tories and Reform want to quit the European Convention on Human Rights.

Since 1980, the ECHR court has heard 29 cases of immigrant deportation. UK won 16. No defeats in the last 5 yrs.

Quitting ECHR won't fix illegal immigration, will destroy our freedoms and rights.
