Sitting here, the sunshine pouring through the windows as I listen to Christmas music softly playing from the tv and hand sew the binding on to a couple small things I made . . . who knows when. The joy of soft music and thread pulling through fabric, that's the soundtrack for the afternoon.

So, as I'm cleaning up files at the end of the year like I always do I find a log-in for Soundcloud. I don't remember ever having an account there. But I do. Why?

Hubble has imaged the largest planet-forming disk ever seen! At 400 billion miles wide, it is roughly 40 times the diameter of our solar system. The disk is unexpectedly chaotic and turbulent, offering new insights into how planetary systems form: https://bit.ly/477sQ9b 🔭 🧪

I can barely string together words to properly express just how much I hate that little tin god. Anything I might say would probably end up with me talking to a cop and needing a lawyer.

In the last day and a half we've gotten nearly a foot of new snow. I'm exhausted.

Just one day, just one day of dealing with my parents I'd like to not be chewing antacids like candy.

And so it begins, shoveled snow this morning. 7 inches of wet snow mixed with oak leaves. Of course it's suppose to rain tomorrow.

This is exactly how I voted this year.
As a young voter, my family always taught me, if you can vote on the WFP ticket, you vote on the WFP ticket
If you’re in NY, you absolutely should follow and join the efforts of the @nywfp.bsky.social. They are ACTIVE and ON THE BALL and a big part (along with many other parts) of how Mamdani won.

One piece of good news, really good news to start the week at least.

Home again after the quick trip to vote. About the same turnout as always from what I was told . . . not sure if that's good or bad. But voted.

I wonder what the staff at the local (ish) Staples store would think of the members card I just found . . . from 1990. Doubt they'd have any record of it. Right?

Well, the good news is the thumb drive I found in a tote bag doesn't have any important files on it. The bad news, what the hell was a thumb drive doing in a bag I'd completely forgotten about until I was about to toss it?

A whole mass of people who believe they're shadow banned any time a post doesn't perform as well as expected is about to lose that feedback entirely. Oh dear. That's not going to go well.

(adds popcorn to shopping list for no reason in particular)
Musk: X will delete all heuristics from its recommendation system within six weeks. ...the familiar logic of likes, replies, and reposts that shaped Twitter for years is about to disappear. In its place, Grok, the platform's in-house Al model, will read and watch more than one hundred million posts.
Brace for another wave of x refuges

Grabbed my jean jacket to head out to run errands and realized it's vintage, probably. It's a least 35 years old, maybe older. How do I know, because I'm the vintage human who bought it. I know I had it at Emerson in '91, but I think I had it in high school.

I'm not going to quote reply that coffee has no value thing, because, well, coffee has plenty of value. For instance, I'll value your life more after my first cup of coffee.

Happy Indigenous People's Day to all.

Today's plan is to find some new to me Indigenous movies on one of my streaming services.

Certain celebrity deaths are harder to process than others because the person in question was so full of life and creativity and originality that you just assume it's never going to end.

Of all the weird mail that's come through my parents home lately, the satisfaction survey from the National Cemetery System had to be high on the list.

There are some mornings when I wake up, remember some part of a dream from the night before and I'm curious enough to try and understand the whys. Not this morning. Nope. Don't care why I dreamt about a high school reunion.

And while I'm browsing real estate listings, what's with the complete lack of color? Everything is weirdly grey and I hate it.

Browsing real estate listings in a city I've never lived in and found a house almost identical to my old place in Maryland. It's pulling heartstrings I didn't know I had for the old place.
