My introduction to Robin Hobb, one of the best writers I have *ever* read. I've had this book for maybe 20 years and I cannot count how many times I've read it. It's time to delve into this world again.

When the crochet project is big enough to touch the floor, she's guaranteed to fall asleep on it.

I finished Jitterbug Perfume a couple of weeks ago. There were some elements that made me like some characters less, but I'll always be a Kudra fan.

I hope all of you get time to travel right from home this year!

If you haven't yet, get a library card!

Libby is a great app you can use with your library card to get #ebooks and #audiobooks.

I recommend no fewer than 4 copies of any beloved book. A paperback for traveling and lending to friends, an eBook for reading with greasy snack fingers, an audio book so you know how the characters' names are actually pronounced, and a pristine hardcover to be buried with you like a pharaoh

I love this…

Although Vice President Kamala Harris is directing her motivational words to young people across the country, a lot of us not so young folks need to hear this too. 🤚🏽

One of my favorite, if not my favorite, literary passages:

"Louisiana in September was like an obscene phone call. The air--moist, sultry, secretive, and far from fresh--felt as if it were being exhaled into one's face. Sometimes it even *sounded* like heavy breathing. Honeysuckle, swamp...

"Sooner or later, men will come along whose belief in the supremacy of the exceptional, extraordinary, isolated individual will cause them to declare themselves *exempt* from controls. In their uniqueness, they will not hesitate to defy acceptable standards." --

The right LOVES free speech.

Unless...

You share a poll that makes Trump insecure
You want to burn your flag
You are a drag queen
You say the word cisgender
You believe a religion other than Christianity
You report a story that makes Trump look bad

Sorry.

Turns out, the right hates free speech.

Saw someone upbraiding someone else for having a hobby while the world is on fire, and, my friends:

1. The world is ever on fire, this is today's conflagration;

2. If you don't find time for rest and joy the fire will consume you;

3. Don't let people shame you for being an entire human.

Quite possibly my all-time favorite book. Re-reading for the first time in a decade, I suppose. Not sure where time has gone.

Brilliant.
Good morning! ☀️

Lots of weirdness happening lately (aka Monday thru Sunday).

I know it’s easy to wanna break things. Don’t.

A simple yet effective trick I use is keeping a basket of rolled up socks near me.

Great stress reliever, a bit of exercise, nothing breaks.

Enjoy!

This is gonna be my song for 2025: Tool's "Fear Inoculum."

"Exorcise the spectacle
Exorcise the malady
Exorcise the disparate
Poison for eternity
Purge me and evacuate
The venom and the fear that binds me"
