This is your regular reminder that if unions didn't work, giant corporations wouldn’t spend millions and millions of dollars trying to stop workers from making them.

Unions give workers power, and billionaire CEOs don't like that.

Turning away from empathy and curiosity makes the world into a grim, thin place populated by strangers, objects, and adversaries.
It's akin to demanding the biggest seat in the theater, even though it doesn't face the stage. It's trading a window for a mirror. It's a theft from others and the self.

So, Trump's plan will raise taxes for most Americans. It's also projected to increase the national debt. Meanwhile, they are gutting programs that benefit us. So, we'll be paying more for less while accruing debt (all to benefit billionaires). How is this fiscal responsibility? It's not. Ridiculous.

The threads here work by looking for keywords. I find it really amusing when random posts about heavy metals (lead, mercury, etc) end up on the #metalheads thread that’s supposed to be about heavy metal music.

Yesterday, while in a nearby town with time to kill, I stopped into a shop that advertised stationary and office supplies. The shopkeeper was clearly confused that I wasn’t looking for anything specific. Finally I said “ma’am, I’m just a nerd that likes office supplies.” Then she let me browse.

just blurted out in class "yes, you have to cite where you got your info. in a world in which lying loudly is the only thing that seems to get rewarded, citing your sources is an act of resistance" and folks, I really believe that.

Their strategy boils down to this: Make working people point the finger at each other when it's the billionaires and corporate giants who are rigging the system to benefit themselves at everyone else’s expense.

If working people band together, the 1% are cooked and they know it.

I think it’s time to start having meaningful conversations about what we want the world to look like, and that has to include conversations about what we want to build, not just what systems need overthrown.

Did anyone else expect fascism to be less… idk… stupid? Like, if you told me 12 years ago America would slide into fascism and that the Apprentice guy, Dr. Oz, Ron Howard and Vince McMahon’s wife would all play a part, I’d tell you that you were lying.
