Also, if you answer "Do you struggle with arriving to places on time?" with "No, because I set multiple staggered phone alarms, and I get ready to leave way too early, and I can't estimate how long it takes to get anywhere so I arrive everywhere at least 20 minutes too early" that is actually a yes.

I can't find it due to search engines no longer working, but there's an old tumblr screenshot about ADHD evaluations where a person is asked whether they tend to lose socks.

And they go "Ah, no, I used to lose my socks all the time but I have Devised a System, allow me to explain it"

This is a bizarre policy and a direct result of the oversimplification of "biological" sex - which once again disproportionately affects trans women. I have it on good authority that trans men can and do regularly donate blood which isn't treated any differently to cis men.

🧵 So the latest update from NHS Blood and Transplant. The nurse on the clinical team has spoken to the 'sex assigned at birth' team, and has been told there is no clinical risk to trans women *because* they are using the male donation interval, and male reference ranges. 1/9

1/🧵 After 14 months, 20 emails, 4 ICO complaints, and 1 tribunal case, NHS England finally responded to my FOI about Hilary Cass’s creepy citations: no discussions about those citations were ever recorded, past or present.

This severely undermines the credibility of the Cass review.

In UK schools there's only one way to be a successful student now... and that has led to increased disengagement for many pupils.

Beyond research, I work in community settings to support young LGBTQ+ people, and I love Malaysian food, The X Files, birdwatching, and electronic music✨ I also have a truly excellent cat (Simone)
A photo of Rowan's cat, Simone. She is a fluffy black and white cat, lying in the sun and looking at the camera.

I've previously worked with @topicgroup.bsky.social at Oxford University on improving capacity for mental health research, digital youth mental health, & school mental health interventions - this last one is helmed by the indomitable @lucyfoulkes.bsky.social and has a scoping review coming out soon!

I'm a community worker & mental health researcher predominantly in adolescent/young adult & LGBTQ mental health. I'm interested in a big range of research topics, particularly: the role of families and community members in adolescent mental health interventions, ADHD and autism, and gender euphoria🌈
