In an antifeminist age, feminists have to be much more willing to make people angry and offended if we’re ever going to say anything of substance.

A little less, “I choose my choice; all choices are valid; your choice is valid!!!” And a little more “The ‘choice’ you want me to make sucks.”

Need a little more of this kind of cheeky feminist provocation: a frank and unapologetic assertion that the lives patriarchy prescribes for women are in many ways joyless, claustrophobic, and intellectually vacant.

Terrible news, IMLS maintains and helps to build new infrastructure for libraries and informational access. I’ve had the pleasure of working with them many times and they are super important and great colleagues.

If you live in Texas, please know that SB 412 has passed the Senate and is on its way to the House.

SB 412 removes the affirmative defense to prosecution language from Section 43.24 (c) of the Texas Penal Code, which covers providing harmful material to minors.

There is a LOT of reporting on IMLS right now, but it's being done by people who know what it is. The DOE being dismantled is overshadowing this and that's being done INTENTIONALLY.

But anyway, DOGE is in the IMLS offices right now destroying it.

Say goodbye to interlibrary loans + more.

Look, folks, this is it. The entire ballgame. Either we're a Republic of laws & the Constitution, or we have a dictator. This is fascism, & the impeachment vote should be happening today. Every single university president in the country should be out, in front of microphones, condemning this.

I’m sure the esteemed leaders of the New York delegation, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, will have absolutely nothing to say about a green card holder with an 8-months-pregnant American wife being arrested in his dorm for exercising his first amendment rights upon returning from Iftar
It’s honestly worse than Columbia doing nothing because they invited ICE into one of their own residential buildings to detain a legal green card holder whose American citizen wife is eight-months pregnant. I would not feel comfortable attending or sending a kid to Columbia rn.

Seems like the proposed solution here is the standard one for all of women's complaints about gendered violence, insult, and indignity: that we shut up and take it.

One thing I don't understand from this finger-wagging is how women are supposed to forgive these young men for their immediate recourse to misogyny.
If progressives want to win back young men, then they must talk to them and address their needs, instead of constant scolding. All the finger wagging just drives them to Rogan, Peterson, and the Tate brothers. And they DO talk to young men.

When people talk about wanting to see more people in the streets, I honestly think about the Palestine solidarity marches of the last year. We had so many people in the streets, but no real leverage. I'm not saying symbolic action is bad, bc it's not, but it's not a strategic plan either.

The right wing woman is not insincere in her politics, but she *is* tactical: she believes that sexual and reproductive service to right wing men will earn her their protection, affection, and material support. She is wrong.

I hope we’ll call it what it is: the Trump/Musk recession
It seems almost unavoidable at this point that we are headed for a deep, deep recession. Just based on 200K+ federal firings & pullback of contracts, the March employment report (to be released April 4) seems certain to show bigger job losses than any month ever outside of a few in 2008-9 and 2020.

I have to admit that I've been surprised at the level of hate at AI LLMs.

There is finally a tool that allows those without access to an advanced education to self learn, anywhere , anytime. To get answers to questions, (even if sometimes wrong) , that they would otherwise never have access to
