Sometimes I make drinks. Often I make ill-advised statements. I also write code and often fail at parenting good. I also make noise with ukuleles.
I have no problem believing that this court will try to find a way to get it in front of them and then vote this case incorrectly to get the result they want.

Looking forward to their reasoning to strike down California's Prop 50.

if we have proven one thing it is that the median voter does not put all that much thought into who they are replacing the bum with when they throw the bum out

the important point is: there is a bum, and he needs to go

This was my thought. I grew up driving pickup trucks in the early 90s but have only owned sedans since and I have "bottomed out" maybe four times ever in the 30 years I've been driving sedans.

On the one hand, yes, it seems bad that this just lets speeders avoid getting tickets.

On the other, there's nothing stopping you from just reporting police activity every 2-3 miles even if there isn't any, causing them to just perpetually slow down.

Knowing quite a few dentists I can definitely say you cannot avoid MAGA by being in their offices

"We had to murder the defenseless survivors or they would put us in danger" is at least a defense, even if it was laughable. "We had to murder the defenseless survivors because they were calling for help" is just a confession

"Rich kids are gaming disability accommodations to gain an unfair advantage" is actually very different from "America has an extra-time-on-tests problem" — and the author hasn't proved that either! Rich kids might just be more likely to be diagnosed.

What do the editors of this magazine think their job is?

"Too many kids are getting extra time on tests!" should immediately be followed by "how many kids are getting extra time on tests?" If you don't know, either find out or write about something you do know.

Gotta love Benjamin Franklin basically saying the Germans aren't white and never can be.

She is actually completely fluent and according to her husband once startled a cab driver after getting in the back seat with her raincoat hood up, giving her destination, and then removing her hood a minute or two later because she is very not Korean

My cousin lives in Seoul and teaches there. HMU and I'll try to connect you with her for tips, though IIRC her likely answer is "lock yourself in a room and watch Korean soap operas for a month"

Reminds me of when I moved from the Imperial Valley to Orange County. My first year here I laughed at people who thought it was too hot to play basketball if it was 90F - we used to play if it was 110F or less. Now I have to be forced outside if it's over 85F.

Generally departments do not have quotas because that tends to get the dept in trouble. But they do have stats and officers definitely hear about it if they are making fewer arrests or writing fewer cites than the median officer in the dept
