once again a good time to think about how new york city literally built its subway system as a response to a blizzard, and things work around that here

I think there's a decent chance that Harbaugh improves the Giants but they're still not an elite team. Oh well, it's not my money, he'll at least get them to baseline competency. Keep Bricillo!

@nickbpss.bsky.social I'm sorry, Hafley just sucks.

@nickbpss.bsky.social Cam Thomas is back and somehow playing like 2024 Cam (good) again.

@nickbpss.bsky.social I'm in Orange County for the holidays. My Uber driver last night said he was an Angels employee moonlighting for extra cash.

@nickbpss.bsky.social It's not just me, Caleb sucks, right?

LSU's search involved a loudmouth governor blowing up the whole process and embarrassing the university and state. They got the best candidate on the market. Penn State has had a very quiet search with limited leaking and they've gotten life lessons about how the universe gets swallowed by the sun

Overall takeaways: 1) The Steinbrenners are saving $700m+ by not having to pay property taxes on their stadium; 2) Hal griping about still having to spend $84m/year on construction costs of his family's own stadium is close to the definition of chutzpah.
Do the Yankees get $38m or $84m or what every year in tax breaks, and why is Hal Steinbrenner complaining about this?
New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner was on a call with reporters on Monday when he started talking about how his team didn't win a championship again last year despite the majors' 4th-highest payr...

Big shouts to @nickengvall.bsky.social for allowing us at @slate.com to reprint his piece re: Steph Curry leaving Under Armour, how big of a blunder that was for the company, and just how much they undervalued him for his 13 years there.

(Last night, Steph wore Kobes pregame and dropped 49.)

Under Armour’s Steph Curry disaster just hit the ultimate low.

@nickbpss.bsky.social Oh my God, I can't believe how bad the Lions are on defense.
November 23, 2025 at 8:27 PM
If your team sucks, good offense but bad defense so the games are still watchable is a nice consolation.

Jeff Hafley shouldn't put his condo in Wisconsin on the market.
November 16, 2025 at 8:33 PM
@nickbpss.bsky.social my take on today is I hope we don't hire Hafley
November 16, 2025 at 8:23 PM
@nickbpss.bsky.social it's 1 1/2 quarters, but I thought the Magic at least played defense?

I don't think I've posted my theory here yet that Mara will force Schoen to hire Brian Flores or fire him too.
November 10, 2025 at 5:55 PM
The failures of Schoen and Gettleman are quite different. The latter didn't understand positional value, and just kept screwing up the OL. The former has a few high profile draft busts, and people are mad that he let Saquon and X go. Worst is mismanaging the bottom of the roster.

@nickbpss.bsky.social I've seen games here and there, but Caleb just...isn't good. Like, maybe someone like Payton can make him an effective game manager, but it's incredible how much better Daniels and Maye here.
November 9, 2025 at 7:30 PM
@nickbpss.bsky.social I actually kind of liked Cam Thomas last with better players around him, before he got hurt. But on a bad team, hoo boy, every horrible habit he has is being encouraged.

Pre registering my trade deadline takes. Evan Neal was GREAT at run blocking at RT last year, but can't pass block at all. Jalin Hyatt was solid as a rookie, but started pouting after they drafted Nabors, and was never the same.

Ok, Jaxson Dart officially has a horseshoe shoved up his ass. It's been a decade+ of being on the other end of that, feels so good.
October 19, 2025 at 10:40 PM
Andrew Thomas is seriously best-OL-in-football good.
October 19, 2025 at 10:22 PM
A 6-1 QB from Ole Miss throwing quick passes to a white halfback. Yep, we're back to the 50s era Giants.
October 19, 2025 at 9:07 PM
Sorry this is bad, and doesn't understand a basic P&L sheet.
The same schools that claim their women’s and Olympic sports are being slashed are the same ones doling out over $200 million in buyouts to college football coaches.

Don't fall for it.
