Around 1700, English gained the verb 'cop,' meaning "to get hold of, catch, capture."

By the mid-1800s, 'cop' is recorded in print as being used to refer to what police do to criminals.

Police were then called ‘coppers’...one who ‘cops.’

'Copper' was then shortened to 'cop.'

Our nation was founded on the idea that we are all created equal and deserving of equal protection under the law.

That is why I'm committed to passing the #EqualityAct into law—to ensure every American has a fair shot at success.
Today, Equality Caucus Chair @repmarktakano.bsky.social & our co-chairs reintroduced the #EqualityAct in the 119th Congress to enshrine explicit protections for the LGBTQI+ community into federal law & safeguard the rights of LGBTQI+ people.

Since RFK Jr wants to ban “petroleum-based” food dyes,

does that mean he’s going to ban methylene blue, his favorite unregulated supplement?

Because that’s…also derived from petroleum.

Read today’s newsletter for facts about petroleum, food dyes, & health. ⬇️

No, you're not eating gasoline. The "petroleum food dye" narrative is disinformation.
RFK Jr. and the wellness industry ignore basic chemistry to sell fear about food dyes and your health.

Banning synthetic food dyes won’t improve health—it may worsen it.

FOOD DYES AREN’T THE ISSUE.

1️⃣ they’re safe at ingested levels.
2️⃣ they’re not banned in other countries.
3️⃣ they’ll be replaced with other dyes that aren’t safer, as stable, or as studied.

An Easter thought:

Those who shout the loudest about being “good Christians” are often the ones acting in complete opposition to what Jesus lived and died for.

That’s especially true when it comes to science and public health.

Even self-proclaimed science supporters have blind spots when misinformation supports their beliefs.

It’s not just anti-vax MAHA influencers—it’s also liberal wellness warriors fear-mongering about "toxic" food.

Different tribes, same science denial.

‘Sound’ (loud sound), ‘sound’ (safe and sound), and ‘sound’ (water) are not related.

‘Sound’ (loud) comes from Latin ‘sonus.’

‘Sound’ (safe and) comes from Old English ‘gesund,’ meaning "healthy."

‘Sound’ (water) comes from Old Norse ‘sund,’ meaning “strait."

When people say "DEI" and "extreme wokeness" I challenge them to articulate exactly what they mean with that.

What was "baseline" wokeness? Thus, what counts as extreme? Are they against integration? What are the facts and figures to demonstrate harm?

They rarely do/can.
