Like here our criteria was that >70% of genes in a an enriched pathway had to be present, including the "key" genes required for proper functioning. One enriched gene says little, but we try to make it as unlikely that we're focusing on statistical accidents.

Happy to have this collaborative work out on Biorxiv on how Akkermansia muciniphila deploys it’s carbohydrate sulfatases to metabolise colonic mucin, and that processed glycopeptides/proteins of colonic mucin are a favoured carbon source #glycotime.

Check out our latest publication where we performed AMR screening in ~2000 metagenomes from food and production surfaces in Europe. >60% samples carrying ARGs, >70% of all ARG found, and critical role of non-ESKAPEE from surfaces of the latest stages of production over the final products’ resistome!
