A little while ago, my parents' cat Bridget went missing. As the weeks dragged on, they became extremely worried. My dad devised a way to distract himself: he began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up in some of art and music's most iconic scenes.

“They didn’t ask me for any ID,” Machado said. “I was telling the officer, if I can give him ID, but he said just keep my hands up, not moving. After that, he told me to get out of the car and put the handcuffs on me. And then he went to me and said how did I get into this country and if I was waiting for a court date or if I have any case. And I told him I was an American citizen, and he looked at his other partner like, you know, smiling, like saying, can you believe this guy? Because he asked the other guy, ‘Do you believe him?’” Machado said he was uncuffed and immediately released after showing his driver’s license. The two men with him were taken into custody. He does not know why. Machado said the experience shook his faith in the immigration enforcement efforts of Trump, for whom he voted. “Because, like I said, I was a Trump supporter,” he said. “I voted for Trump last election, but, because I thought it was going to be the things, you know, like, … just go against criminals, not every Hispanic looking, like, that they will assume that we are all illegals.”

I was terminated on Valentines Day from my dream job. 48 weeks ago I started my permanent NPS position as Yosemite's new Locksmith. y I apprenticed under the previous locksmith the 4 years before his retirement. He had a wonderful carrier of 23 years with NPS. He said, "This is a good job Nate, the park can't run without a locksmith, do your job well and your'll always have job." Well now 3 weeks short of my probationary period l've been fired. I've had exemplary performance and am essential for park operations. The people that fired me don't know who I am, or what I do. They simply don't understand this park and how big and complex it is. I need to immediately move out of housing, I have lost my career and I have NO PLAN. This was my dream! All of my eggs were in this basket and I planned to stay till retirement. I had an appointment to meet a realtor today, but canceled, everything has been flipped upside down. I'm scared I?????????????????????!!!!!!??????????????????] I was terminated at 1:15pm 2/14/2025 via email. Yosemite National Park the size of Rhode Island and has more locks than a small city, and without a locksmith I'm deeply concerned for the safety and security of the park and people in it.
