I can’t help thinking that when, in future, people ask what UK political leaders said as it became undeniable that US saw European liberal democracy as its no1 strategic foe, Starmer and others will regret that the answer is “not much, shuffled awkwardly, looked at their feet”.

The UK is rejoining the customs union! The Commons has just said so!*

*Not really, but the Lib Dems' ten-minute rule bill to do so has just passed, after a 100-100 tie with the deputy speaker casting a tie-break vote to allow the process to go on rather than stop.

What a victory! Today MPs narrowly backed our bill to cut the Brexit red tape and end this economic nightmare.

The PM must listen to Parliament and the public, drop his self-imposed red lines and go for growth with a new customs union.

I am deeply sorry to hear of the death of a member of the UK Armed Forces in Ukraine.

My prayers are with their family. We stand with them and with Ukraine as they continue to resist Russia’s unprovoked invasion.

BREAKING: The Lib Dems 10-minute rule bill to rejoin the customs union has just passed!

After a 100-100 tie the deputy speaker followed convention and cast the deciding vote in favour.

It’s unlikely to get government time so probably won't progress - but indicates strength of feeling on this issue

Why are Labour so scared of fighting Reform?

Regulating political donations is a win for everybody. Even if Labour thinks that it can somehow attract big donations in the next few years - their opponents are likely to get more.

Donald Trump is taking money away from our hospitals & GP surgeries, and Nigel Farage is cheering him on.

We can't let Trump get away with extortion like this, Parliament must be given a chance to vote this deal down.

I spoke to @itvanglia.bsky.social about my thoughts on the Budget.

While the rail fare freeze and lifting the 2-child benefit cap are welcome, this is ultimately a botched Budget and a missed opportunity.

A senior member of Reform is going to prison for taking bribes from the Russians.

We need to keep the stench of Russian interference out of our politics.

The Scottish party should now confirm there will be no bags of roubles arriving for them and their colleagues.

The Prime Minister just told me any party leader should want to get to the bottom of this Russian bribery scandal with Reform.

He is the Prime Minister and a party leader. Why isn't he launching a national investigation himself?

Will UK Chancellor redistribute?

End two-child benefit cap, cost £3bn-£3.6bn.
Abolish VAT on domestic fuel, cost £2.5bn.
Increase income tax personal allowance by £1000, cost £8.4bn.

Taxing capital gains at same rate as wages, generates £14bn+ more in NIC.

Another world is possible.
This is how Rachel Reeves could deliver a progressive budget
