I've spent some time in Minnesota. It's a beautiful state filled with wonderful, warm folks. A lot of people I love come from Minnesota. The citizens of Minnesota don't deserve this, and if you think that they do then you and I have a problem. (3/3)

It's about a federal executive singling out a state and deciding to punish its people for daring to run their state according to their own traditions and values, and not according to the executive's demagogic whims. (2/3)

There's a lot more sadness and resignation to the experience of becoming radicalized than I thought there would be. (4/4)

My thoughts become darker still when I consider what these monsters must be doing to the vulnerable, marginalized people they've abducted, in the dark places where there are the cameras don't work. (3/4)

Our admiration for them is as appropriate as our anger at their murders is righteous. What happened to them sits like a stone in my stomach, and the existential, moral argument happening inside me has been made sharper and more urgent as a result of their bravery and sacrifice. (2/4)
