Two partners in the $500 billion Stargate AI project — Oracle and SoftBank — have seen bond risk jump on massive capex. Oracle’s CDS cost tripled in 4 months to 120 bps. SoftBank’s topped 300. The Bloomberg Default Risk Model shows rising credit strains, with Oracle’s cash flow weaker than peers.
How empires collapse:

America will be reviving 1970s station wagons.

China will be innovating better cars for the 2030s.
Sean Duffy on slashing fuel economy standards: "This rule will actually allow you to bring back the 1970s station wagon. Maybe a little wood paneling on the side. We can bring back choice to consumers."

'...to sing the praises of her mother's gumbo. His own family's christmas cooking is not mentioned'

Weird, did he have a painful childhood for some reason? I wonder why his mum wasn't cooking for him at Christmas? If only a journalist could investigate

Interestingly South Africa voted against Russia's kidnapping and brainwashing of Ukrainian kids, while Brazil, India, Indonesia and China abstained. That suggests some divisions within the BRICS, designed as a counterweight to the EU/US.
A shameful list of countries that wouldn’t vote for - and in some cases even voted against - the return of kidnapped Ukrainian children.

Data centres are energy hungry but what if we could use their waste heat to heat our homes?

That's exactly what happens in places like Finland: Cities are tapping the vast amounts of waste heat generated by data centres, and feeding it into district-heating networks.

The 28-point peace plan worked on by Witkoff was clearly a betrayal of Ukraine and the 50 pieces of silver were transparently divided between the US and Russia in its text.

"Kei cars are restricted to low speeds on private land in some states, and prohibited altogether in others, the main concern being that they’re too small, slow and weak to be driving among the hulking trucks and SUVs ubiquitous on American roads."

Oh dear. I didn't think UK politicians could get any more incompetent. Clearly I was wrong.

Corruption is a problem in Ukraine's government like all governments in the world, so there's a risk that if US and Russian kleptocrats dangle enough "contracts" in front of Ukraine's politicians, they may sell out their nation's interests. Read the 28-point "peace plan" for such "business deals."

Is there an alternative to Facebook like BlueSky became an alternative to X? Zuckerberg had one job -- to be a site for keeping up with friends. Now you scroll an hour through AI slop, ads, politics, fascist bots, before getting to anything from friends. With a monopoly, he does whatever he likes.

The OBR leak was bad but overblown by the right-wing media. This on the other hand is NOT a story. The UK economy is slowly dying. The conservatives are saying it is both dying and healthy here.. like Schrodinger's cat.

Putin said Kyiv wants fight "to the last Ukrainian" - which he was "in principle" ready to do. He said Russia has battlefield initiative and fighting will only end when Ukrainian troops withdrew from Donbas. If not "we'll achieve this by force."

A Wang Fuk Court resident said he had complained about the use of Styrofoam in recent renovations. Police suspect materials that were not fire safe may have exacerbated Wednesday's blaze, which has claimed 65 lives so far. Full coverage: buff.ly/RSwXkVU Video: Johnny Wan/HKFP.
