I’m in Montreal & people keep saying things like “You’re visiting from New York? How did you hear about us?” like Montreal is a place we learn about on Yelp.

I know it’s Canadian self-deprecation / humor, but 1) they’re also serious 2) I think it’s more insulting to us than them? It’s a drive!

Whether or not you support political violence won’t change where we’ve come to, nor where we’ve been for some time in this country. I am quite taken aback by how many people only invoke the term ‘political violence’ when it happens to a person with power. It’s political violence the other way too.
