Moral rot in elite journalism is killing the whole field
The Nuzzi/RFK Jr. mess and the revelation of Epstein’s journo pals lay bare a profound moral absence at the heart of our free press.

The consequences of this are going to play out for *decades* if not the rest of everyone living's lives, and I bet within a year or less it's going to be the hip thing to tell people to stop bringing it up, how long are you going to keep blaming this thing that happened during early Trump II.

DOGE did not fail in any way to accomplish its goals.

Its goals were never efficiency or saving money.

Its goals were to destroy as much of government as possible forever, and to steal data for the Space Nazi.

DOGE is fading away like bank robbery gangs fade away after the robberies are done.

I love the Mamdani visit for how it just neutered 1000 GOP midterm ads in the making… but David’s not wrong.

Same deal w/Biden’s chummy post-election mtg w/Trump.

That kind of thing has way more public impact than House Dems voting for a throwaway HRes about Stalin and Castro.

I also know a thing or two about the American elite, ahem, and they are very good at ignoring, compartmentalizing, and overlooking the bad behavior of others to advance their own careers
Someday you, too, could have the moral fortitude to look upon a years-long rape circus organized by the nation's most powerful elites and declare, "The people upset about this are speaking about it the wrong way."

I'll go through some of the most egregious ones here.

I mean, it’s not criminal to ask a convicted pedophile’s advice on how to get in the pants of a mentee while calling her a racial slur, but maybe you should be shunned by decent society.

Summers called a Chinese professor "peril" (horribly offensive) while describing in detail TO A CHILD RAPIST months' worth of manipulations & harassment of her.

Sometimes things don't have to be "criminal" to result in consequences. Perhaps a new concept for white dudes, but there it is.

Good. I'm guessing there's a strong chance he sexually harassed someone while they were actually at Harvard, given what the "peril" emails reveal about his behavior and attitudes. In which case tenure revocation and dismissal is necessary. www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

Excellent piece that also alludes to just how deeply weird these tech overlord would-be authoritarians close to Vance are
The Vice President is an extremist, and he associates with extremists. That hasn't gotten a lot of attention from the mainstream press.

I wrote about that for my newsletter
We need to talk about JD
Not nearly enough news coverage has focused on JD Vance's influences and his extreme views.

Wait, how has Summers not been fired/let go/whatever yet?
This is absolutely disgusting. Larry Summers discussed wanting to fuck a former Harvard student who was Chinese with Epstein. He nick named her "peril" a reference to the racist "yellow peril."

Larry Summers needs to resign.

Hey @americanprogress.bsky.social @budgetlab.bsky.social you gonna sever all ties with Larry Summers or do we have to start holding up signs with his emails at your events?
This is some horrifying predatory shit.
When former Harvard President Lawrence H. Summers was pursuing a romantic relationship with a woman he described as a mentee, he turned to a longtime associate for guidance: Jeffrey E. Epstein.

Look, I know this weaponization of male academic interest is the oldest story in the book, but it’s just so, so pernicious. It’s awful to the women directly involved, but it’s also awful to *all* women in the academy, who have to live in its shadow all the time.
