Making Washington State a better place to live and work.
WA State OFM has a new report out on the potential harms of the proposed tariffs. With 40% of WA jobs tied to trade, the Trump tariffs could cost WA $2.2 billion over the next 4 years, plus higher prices for cars, clothing, and food.

Happy 90th Birthday to the Social Security Act! 🎉🎂🥳

Frances Perkins drafted the blueprint for the legislation that later became the social security act signed into law by President Franklin Roosevelt on August 14, 1935.

Republicans are calling for massive cuts to the cutting-edge science happening at PNNL and the essential work at the Hanford cleanup.

I was in the Tri-Cities to say I'm tearing up Trump's budget and writing a new one.

NO WAY to shortchanging Hanford or groundbreaking research.

In light of the horrific political assassination this morning of an elected state leader in Minnesota, this statement by a Trump cabinet member about replacing elected state leaders in California is worth re-sharing.

Thinking of all who step up to make our civic democracy work. Thank you.
Kristi Noem: "We are not going away. We are staying here to liberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into the city."

Sen. Alex Padilla is then forcibly removed!

Shocked by Sen. Bill Ramos’s sudden passing. I appreciated his care, curiosity, and decency. Losing two lawmakers mid-session is heavy. So much pressure on lawmakers to finish their work by the scheduled April 27 end of #WAleg. Love to everyone in that building.

Happy to be at the stage of parenting where my kiddo shares new science with me.

Less happy the science reflects Americans’ lack of will to act on climate change.

In related news, pollen counts between 1990 & 2018 increased by up to 21% (?!?!)
