This is so interesting to see! Lovely photos, too.
But pragmatics take precedence. In this town pomegranates & grapes have long been displaced by the cash crop cottage industry of persimmons. Farm families are working day & night processing the 'orange gold'. 🌱

Here are tonnes of them, strung up in purpose-built 2nd story drying rooms. #agriculture

Spend a few moments with something beautiful
In celebration of World Octopus Day, we wanted to revisit one of our favorite cephalopod sightings, the glass octopus — Vitreledonella richardi filmed during a month-long #PhoenixIslandsCoral expedition in 2021.

While preparing a talk, I just stumbled across this clip of nightingale, cuckoo, turtle dove, robin and chiffchaff singing in north Norfolk last year.

Winter is daunting and conservation is relentless bad news… but for this you keep on fighting.

Hidden in the lungs of some breast cancer survivors are tumor cells that can remain dormant for decades — until they one day trigger a relapse.

Now, experiments show for the first time these rogue cells can be roused from their slumber by common respiratory illnesses such as COVID-19 or the flu.

Inflammation from the respiratory infections seems to be the culprit, study in mice finds.
