I'm still here to be your #ttrpg muse, don't forget.

Escapism may be some folk's only refuge, so if building a better world in fantasy will make you feel better, you can bounce your ideas off me.

Whether its worlds, cultures, characters, themes or campaigns, come chat.

I'm shit at maths, mind.

Me, a Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te, with black hair, mismatched blue and yellow irises, scars on my bronzed skin and a half smile on my lips, dressed in black armour with silver trim, and a white fur shoulder cape.

Almost immediately finding out one of the Bad Dr Who Cosplay Young Tories whose clothes we were making fun of wants to legalise sisterfucking is like a really quick Milkshake Duck if instead of drinking milkshake, the duck had been filmed masturbating into a neighbour's wheelie bin

When I finally discovered *good* dark chocolate that's about 75% cocoa solids and realised it was very much a nibble food, not a gobble food, to savour slowly, then I realised I actually loved it.

I can't stand white chocolate, though!

Suletta would definitely try to make friends. So many would be taken off guard at first but be absolutely delighted.

There's a few I think who just wouldn't be able to respond with anything but emo mistrust, and those are the people Miorine furiously makes notes about.

"Amuro, Suletta just wishes to sing Happy Birthday for you, why are you hiding under the table and crying?"

Controversial opinion in 2025: maybe my chat client and audio control software shouldn't be pushing out updates EVERY FUCKING DAY and when you read up it's that they've added a special sound profile for a triple A game I am never going to play.

I, too, have been playing some Aliens: Fireteam Elite lately.

How many trillions of dollars have been invested into this technology so far?
Google search for "austria hungary in space"

Google excitedly tells you about the 1889 orbital flight, and that by 1908 there was a Mars research output with 30 people.

This was my first thought, but while Command, Conn, Engineering, Security and Medicine translate over easily (Command, Pilot, Engineer, Warrior, Healer) I'm not sure what to shift Science to.

Since, in the show, 75% of what would be "Science" in Trek is "Starbuck's Bullshit" in classic BSG. 😹

I see Monster Of The Week and especially Star Trek Adventures as spiritual successors - as in they recognise and embrace the episodic nature of the show as being perfect for driving a roleplaying game, much in the same way John did here.

Hmm...

Could I do a 2d20 Buck Rogers In The 25th Century?

Girl, just text her! What’s the worst that’s gonna happen????
A green lesbian furiously texts her crush, her inner goblin burned away and transformed tries to stop her. The green lesbian pauses over the send message button which she then dramatically presses, her frantic missive sending.

FB Marketplace, Gumtree, all of them are just swamped with some really horrible people, like the guy who agreed to buy a chest freezer off my dad, but he turned up with his son and tried to claim Dad had agreed to give it away.

Just... fuckers.

Oh it's the tip of the iceberg, trust me, but yeah I can't bring myself to use the site as a buyer or seller.
sashette.bsky.social
(Back in the early 2000s, my brother basically stole many of my possessions to sell on it every time he visited my parents, who I was back living with for a couple of years. He has never copped to it, even after losing a fiancee because he was selling her things too.)

You are a stronger woman than I.

When it comes to downsizing from here I know I'll be missing out on money I could use if I don't Ebay stuff, but I just don't have the capability to do it, coupled with my historical reluctance to engage with the site.

This despite the fact that the same people holding that Dahl-inspired romantic view will, as seen recently in our press, froth at the mouth with disgust when presented with people actually poaching.

We're a Very Normal Island.
sashette.bsky.social
The reason the romanticism continues into the modern UK is, largely, Roald Dahl and "Danny, Champion of the World" originally written in the 70s.

Dahl held some truly abhorrent views & there's more to it than a post can go into, but reframing it as "poacher vs capitalist excess" touched a nerve.

You were still top off, guns out in... 1998? So don't do yourself dirty.

40% of people reading this are wondering what Arsenal have to do with it, 40% are googling "gooner" right now, 10% know exactly what I mean, and 10% are worried parents of teens who've just realised their boy ISN'T actually an Arsenal supporter.

I tried explaining the Frateris Militia 40k army to a younger acquaintance playing FFXIV and she said "so you had a squad of Sisters getting followed around by a hundred gooners?" and after staring into the middle distance for a moment I could not stop cackling.
wulfboyraff.bsky.social
I had to google Frateris Militia, and now I'm worried this is going to awaken something in me.
Its Warhammer 40K art of Frateris Militia. It's... I dunno how best to describe this. A gentleman crouched on a bit of pillar, knees wide, wearing jeans and knee-length bookts and... uh... a kind of loose vesty thing that just covers his nipples. He has an Imperial eagle on his chest. A big scruffy beard. He is shouting. He has a barbed whip. It's... it's all very heterosexual, I'm sure, and I'm a degenerate for thinking otherwise.

If I remember, somewhere out there is John Tynes' d6 Stargate SG-1 system for West End Games that never was which may also serve as a solid base.

Ah, there it is.

I mean you could play 2nd Ed (maybe others, I don't know) and do that pretty much "legally" all the way back in 1997.

Just do a Frateris Militia army, like I did, but where I had Necromunda gangers as my LADSLADSLADS (for ease of modelling) one could totally do Space Monks.

...as you say, you're sort of treating it like two distinct and different games; one while in a mech, one outside of it.

When you pose the question, folks think of a single mecha game that offers the depth, so that's why I'm unsurprised you get "oh, Lancer?" often.
sashette.bsky.social
Yeah, I understand why people point to Lancer when you say you want more from a mech game, because it offers more than simple pilot rolls and "mechs as equipment" feel that some other games do.

I think very few people are imagining the sort of simulation you're trying to capture because...
