(He/Him). Roleplaying stuff. Lefty. Thoroughly enjoyed 4e D&D. The Fog is one of the best horror movies ever made. Can't get enough Forged in the Dark and random indie #ttrpg. Also can't be making up a new profile at my time of life.

Hey folks I'm Raff, rarely Andy. I help create the best fest live roleplaying game in the UK. On BlueSky I post about #ttrpg, enthuse about crowd funding indies, whinge, and sometimes bang out some fanfiction. Not as funny or clever as I think. Will unironically like cat photos. Socialist-y I guess.

If I learned nothing from my years of Vampire : The Maskeraid it is that everyone contains precisely ten blood points. No more, no less.
wulfboyraff.bsky.social
Early on at Uni in Sinderland I pronounced the big city on the Tyne as "New Carstle" and was immediately hunted by angry men with dogs.
wulfboyraff.bsky.social
Its healing potions. Adventurers have the same amount of blood, it's just full of weird magical sugary additives. In some counties its legally a sauce.
sskorkowsky.bsky.social
OK. Last time.
A D&D Stirge detaches after draining 10 HP of blood. Therefore HP are a measurable unit of blood (I estimate 200ml per HP).

Characters with high HP might have hundreds of liters contained in their bodies at high pressure. Even light nicks tend to spray anime-style.
It's science.

I exist in I think two Omega photos - one is of my back, the other is of the side of my head. Good times.

Base nine isn't maths, it's delightful and enlightened.
wulfboyraff.bsky.social
Oh it's not a problem for us - visions are about significant choices (or meant to be) and I am constantly pushing for "make a decision alone in the dark and nobody knows" as being much cooler than "I was Cleopatra"
wulfboyraff.bsky.social
Yeah. It's like the people who talk about how great Star Trek is and then argue for shooting people in little boats. Incomprehensible how dissonant the inside of their brains must be.
wulfboyraff.bsky.social
We discuss this at work as the Cleopatra Problem - that people with past lives turn out to have been Cleopatra (or similar) with a frequency that even I, a maths agnostic, find statistically unconvincing. They are almost never a ditch digger who died at 26 of scrofula while eating uncooked turnip.
garius.bsky.social
When you could code silly quizzes on Facebook, it was FULL of "what would you be in medieval times?!" etc.

I made one that nearly always answered "died as a child", "died in childbirth", "lived and died as a servant"

People got SUPER mad with it.

Everyone assumes they'll be at the top of the tree
williamcarruthers.bsky.social
The subtext of ‘we should be more like Dubai’, beyond the obvious racism, is ‘I should have a servant’.

Interesting maths words about the difference between d10s and d6s and PBTA and #ttrpg and apparently they may mean my best friend turns into a monster? I often get confused by maths words as any number of exasperated mathy folk can attest.
armadajosh.bsky.social
Good morning! I have had a couple of people tell me Ex Ten shouldn't use 2d10 because it breaks the PBTA probability curve. They could not be more wrong and I am going explain why, because it's the end of my campaign and I need something to keep me sane, ok?

Strap in.

I had to google Frateris Militia, and now I'm worried this is going to awaken something in me.
Its Warhammer 40K art of Frateris Militia. It's... I dunno how best to describe this. A gentleman crouched on a bit of pillar, knees wide, wearing jeans and knee-length bookts and... uh... a kind of loose vesty thing that just covers his nipples. He has an Imperial eagle on his chest. A big scruffy beard. He is shouting. He has a barbed whip. It's... it's all very heterosexual, I'm sure, and I'm a degenerate for thinking otherwise.

When I saw it I just assumed some think tank somewhere had told Ms Badenoch that Pratchett had a 78% recognition rate in the over 30s or something. As in, it's a lie. Occam's Razor and all that.

Also there is a difference between owning things and reading them.

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

Kemi Badenoch claiming Terry Pratchett as her favourite author is wild

- Battle because space monks could have a cool space monk-y aesthetic (with some space monkeys for good measure) because I liked Name of the Rose. Also because I don't like space marines especially they're just too unsey gung-ho military bro fic.

I forget my point. It might be "go lady heads"?
wulfboyraff.bsky.social
I don't play WH40K and if I did I wouldn't play female space marines. I'd play Tau and ignore all the bits of bolted-on extra lore intended to stop them being goodies. And I'd call them goodies in front of other WH40K players until they got angry. But if I had to I *might* play male Sisters of -

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

Backed Solarcrawl #ttrpg a while back. Hacked scifi Black Hack with PCs as astronauts from a planet in crisis exploring their solar system and hopefully finding things to save their people. Cool procedures, cards, weird planets, interesting downtime phase. Quickstart on itch for the interested.

SOLARCRAWL: Fifth planet out from the sun is Scintil, a bast world tree of green canopy that shrouds a steaming, thriving jungle with a freshwater lake glinting at its heart.

Lots of climbing for the Astronauts who land here.

I'll be posting more maps as I make them.
A Little Prince style planet that's a big mangrove-like tree. roots trail after a spherical green canopy that encircles a globular lake of water at its core.

Also a fan of BBtS. It has a kind of epic silliness to it, a kind of unique straight faced goofiness, a John-Boyness if you will, that the Zack Snyder remake utterly failed to appreciate or capture.

I've loved 'Battle Beyond The Stars' since I first saw it as a teenager, so I'm very much with @aptshadow.bsky.social in this podcast
Listening to @emmanewman.bsky.social try to come to terms with the completely mad choices made by this film has had me crying with laughter 😂

Ayuh. I tracked it down and am engaged in a lazy collab with a buddy involving a Wuthering Heights/Poldark crossover. With mechs. Also enjoying running it btw - easy and fun to run.
