The final report explains the delays. HINT: it wasn't Merrick Garland.
It also explains that DoJ did NOT rely on the J6 committee, nor was it "shamed" into "starting" the probe based on the hearings.

When (or if) the U.S. ever comes out of the era of Trumpism, we clearly need to codify much of what we’ve considered “norms”, completely overhaul campaign finance laws, and end Citizen’s United.
