Ebikes are magical. Cargo bikes are magical.
Put them together and you have one of the most powerful ways to decarbonise our cities and make them safer, quieter, cleaner and so much more FUN.

Electric cargo bikes can replace many everyday car trips for the average family and “reshape suburban family mobility”, say Oxford University researchers. 49 British households were loaned e-cargo bikes for school runs, shopping trips, family outings and other day-to-day use.

Interesting research on attitudes towards & use of e-cargo bikes in the UK.

Particularly noteworthy for demonstrating the level of interest in e-cargo bikes nationally and the extent to which they replace car journeys. In a trial in suburban areas over 50% of the distance travelled replaced car use

Getting people off the sofas and out of their cars does more to improve their health than any other initiative, so we need to make walking, cycling and public transport easier and more attractive for the least fit people,

In the UK, only the health cost of road accidents is estimated to be £6bn. There are also social and economic costs that push the bill a lot higher (between £30bn and £42bn). The solution is public transport, cycling and walking infrastructure. It saves lives and money.

This is excellent to see from Sadiq Khan.

The evidence is clear on 20mph:

“… the number of people killed or seriously injured on London borough roads reduced by 34% following the implementation of 20mph speed limits, with the number of children killed falling by 75% (from four to one).“
Dear Britain, it’s now clear: 20mph zones save lives and don’t slow traffic. Implement them | Sadiq Khan
There is too much bluff and bluster on this subject. Ordinary people just want safe streets for themselves and those they love, and we can achieve that, says London mayor Sadiq Khan

This length of Edward Rd (overgrown for years !!) is very reminiscent of the many years Bespoke spent trying to convince @eastsussexcc.bsky.social that they should restore their shared path to 3m on Lottbridge Drove( LTN 1/20). Here as in the past have to cut it back to show them.
