We asked ChatGPT to create a comic-style illustration that sums up our research group and topics #AMR #OneHealth 💧🐄🌳🦌🚶‍♀️🦠— here’s the result. I think it captures it well! However, I wonder why we are all wearing shirts of the same color. 😅

We used #genomics, #transcriptomics, and #proteomics to uncover distinctive traits in #Kpneumoniae, offering insights that could support future diagnostics and therapies.

Thanks to all collaborators!

This shows that new and innovative strategies are gaining regulatory traction. While continued research and monitoring will be key to understanding long-term efficacy and potential resistance development, this is a sign of progress in the global effort to combat AMR. 2/2 #AMR #PhageTherapy

Last month the European Commission authorized a bacteriophage preparation as a feed additive for poultry, which will go into effect this month. This preparation, which is supposed to selectively target 𝘚𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘢, is the first of its kind to be approved by the EU. 1/2 #AMR #PhageTherapy

With the Baltic Sea right on our doorstep, we are beginning to investigate Vibrio species, some of which can be relevant opportunistic pathogens. Hopefully, we will gain exciting insights. The first infection this season in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was reported yesterday.

Molecular biology methods are key to our daily wet lab work. They're essential for uncovering mechanisms behind antibiotic resistance, bacterial fitness, and virulence.
Combining these insights lays groundwork for novel strategies to combat #AMR pathogens.

During our stay in Kenya, we had the privilege to work alongside our incredible partners in the heart of the Masai Mara. Surrounded by thousands of cattle, we collected samples to study antimicrobial resistance in this stunning One Health setting.

At the beginning of June, part of the team spent two weeks in Kenya for a meeting with our cooperation partner at @ilri.org We also held a workshop at Maasai Mara University. Thank you for the impressive experiences we were able to gain with you, especially in the field work.🙏

Antimicrobial resistance #AMR isn’t a joke — but raising awareness through humor can help!
We are asking you, for your best #science #joke and starting with:
What’s a bacterium’s favorite song?
“Don’t Stop Me Now” — superbugs love it.

Earlier this week, the #WHO published an analysis of global antibiotics use based on 2022 data. Only one-third of CTAs meet the goal of 70% Access antibiotic use. Watch antibiotics remain overused, fueling #AMR, while Reserve antibiotics are underused in many LMIC, highlighting access and data gaps.

Week two of the sampling in our #citizenscience project is wrapping up, but the lab work is just getting started🥼🧪. From the first samples, we were already able to isolate a strain that might be an ESBL-producing 𝘌. 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘪🦠🔬. Curious to see what the upcoming samples will bring🤔. #OneHealth

"Antibiotika-Resistenzen sind eine der größten globalen Herausforderungen, die wir haben", sagt Katharina Schaufler @schauflerlab.org @helmholtz-hioh.bsky.social. Sie hat in ihrem Labor Putenfleisch untersucht & in 6 von 14 Proben resistente Keime gefunden. Via SWR. #AMR

#citizenscience #sciencecommunication: It's a lot of fun, and we're all learning together! We bring the knowledge from our #AMR science to the community. Together with pupils, we collect samples, and look at the AMR results. They are engaged, curious and full of new perspectives. #OneHealth
