Amazon is "investing" $20 billion in data centers to create around 1000 jobs. What sort of investment is this? $16 million for one job (minus all the jobs the data centers will automate away). If the state is putting literally any money into this it's theft.

If I were the owner of the @washingtonpost.com, I would not do a deal with the people who dismembered my columnist. Seems like a low bar, but Bezos managed to not clear yet another one. The world is awash in capital and that this is the choice should tell you all.
He’s so poor, all he has is money.
Jeff Bezos once mourned Jamal Khashoggi in public—now the Amazon billionaire is making billion-dollar deals with his executioner, which reveals more about his values than any vigil ever could.

Elon Musk's DOGE reportedly:
- Took sensitive data that should not leave the agency
- Turned off monitoring tools
- Deleted any records of their access

Cybersecurity experts are not mincing words - this is not normal, and it's dangerous.
A whistleblower's disclosure details how DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data
A whistleblower tells Congress and NPR that DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data and hid its tracks. "None of that ... information should ever leave the agency," said a former NLRB official.

This article shamefully misses the point.

We can have greenfield development that provides tons of housing AND is not a sprawl development pattern. Thats far better for municipalities fiscally, and far better for human beings and the planet. So why isn't that an option mentioned here?
Not a single time in this article glorifying the need for sprawl to address the US's affordable housing crisis is there a mention of the vast transportation costs of sprawling living patterns. Nor is there mention of the fact that sprawl is directly linked to disinvestment in urban cores.
America Needs More Sprawl to Fix Its Housing Crisis
The word has become an epithet for garish, reckless growth — but to fix the housing crisis, the country needs more of it.

"invest"

Eat up a bunch of land and resources to build a big room to house servers. Create hardly any new permanent jobs, probably on net eliminate many others. These companies are not gods, we need to stop treating them with this sort of uncritical adulation.
