Just dropped a new piece on my newsletter.

Were the trades made before Trump’s April 9 tariff announcement luck or insider trading?

I estimate the odds it was luck alone.

1 in 4,484.

And the payout amount?

Over 1 in 10 million.

INSIDER TRADING.

The S&P gained $4.7 trillion in less than an hour today.

Some people got in on the action early.

Let me show you what that looks like, minute by minute.

Yes. If DHS can barge in, say your visa was revoked, be told you have a green card, say it's revoked too, and then disappear you so that neither your lawyer nor your family can find you, then all the guardrails are gone. There is no policy, practice, or law protecting anyone.

I think most people are intuitively aware of this but something like the official White House account posting an “ASMR” video of shackled immigrants is not just cruel for its own sake, it’s intentional envelope-pushing to ramp up to desensitization over inhumane detention, camps, and deaths

I just learned the term "malicious compliance."
The reason malicious compliance is so effective is that it makes the underlying logic of a mandate plain.
Fellow NSA - National Security Agency veterans. Look at what’s happened at the National Cryptologic Museum. They covered up with brown paper the photos of Women in American Cryptology. All in response to President Trump’s anti-diversity executive order.

I have been thinking a lot about how becoming more informed and aware over the next four years in a way that’s really useful might mean more books about history and less getting sucked into the daily firehose of bad news which is the present
I was raised in a multi-generational organizing family and I can say with firsthand knowledge that 20th century organizers read theory and they studied history and literature quite closely

The need to do that hasn’t changed

If studying history isn’t part of your organizing work, change that
