5. David Peace- Red Riding Quartet

Claustrophobic and dark, this is a superlative sequence of crime novels. A microcosm of British life during these time periods, with a heady mix of detective novel and police procedural, and whiplash inducing shifts in narrative and perspective.

In my neverending drama life, got hate crimed and threatened outside the Doublet pub by some fiercely anti-pakistani randoms. Staff gave their sympathies, but did not move a punter who joined in, who I'd informed them of. Hate being a downer on socials but can't help being alive, haha!!
