Sometimes, you go so deep into the forest searching for the nymphs and dryads who aren't there that you become the first one to stumble upon the enchanted, empty glade. And when that happens, it's up to you to become the first faun, the one future girls will search the woods for.

(Sadly, it's cropped in such a way to sound more like an egg crack than it is. Despite everything, they are all still just boys three books deep.)

To let the boys catch up on Dorley, I'm hopping over to other transfemme books. Going from Trans/Rad/Fem to Sexed Up to Whipping Girl is basically doing transfeminist reading backwards, but you know how library holds go.
On audiobook for my cat, who loves @juliaserano.bsky.social's voice.

Okay, got appointments scheduled for a new HRT doc, laser on Thursday, and an evaluation to get back on ADHD meds.
And I have a lead on a new primary care physician.
I'm exhausted but functioning. Just took three or four weeks post-COVID to get here, but I made it.

This is very, very hard but I don't think it counts unless the tears fall out of my eyes, right?
Could one of the Blue Sky judges weigh in on what counts as crying.

Learning mascara this week, so new rule: no crying over boys until next Sunday.

I came in here to get lunch because the parking lot was empty, and it filled up with military guys in fatigues right after me. Just like one trans girl in a fluffy tiger vest and a million dudes.
Gonna hang out near the counter and get mine to go...

I just said "Fuck you, I got castrated for that potato!" and the cishet boys in the book club laughed very hard, so suffice to say, they also love the second years in Dorley as much as I do.
They're adapting to trans (generic and Dorley specific) humor very quickly.

What I find exceptionally irritating and disingenuous about the "biological" arguments of anti-trans advocates is that it fundamentally ignores the -fact- that there's strong evidence of a biological component to trans-ness itself.

my unironic belief is that transition itself is a holy journey
there is so much we learn, so many existentially expansive concepts we both imply and live, such a unique perspective we gain which can only be gained through this process
it hurts so bad but we also live richer lives than most humans

...they cancelled my appointment because my immunosuppressants can apparently make the skin photosensitive so lasers are more likely to burn badly.

"Oh hey, a trans girl NOT named after a Greek goddess!" a friend said to me, and I had to explain that the plant mint gets its name from the cthonic naiad nymph Minthe who was turned into the plant and associated with contraception, death, and being sweet.
I am, in fact, still the stereotype.

Massive thanks to Natasha, Liz, and the Ruths, who did this for me art art school.
Between Secrets of Dorley and When You Fell From Heaven, I feel like @badambulist.bsky.social has captured a dynamic that kept me alive from age 3 to 22 as a trans egg... randomly getting adopted by cis women who befriend and treat you as one of the girls.
I'm glad this is a trope and not just me.

Two of my best friends in high school were cis girls who didn’t even hesitate to have ‘girl talk’ with me around. There’s basically no way any of us knew I was trans back then, but their immediate acceptance as “one of the girls” almost certainly saved my life.
