Important point. We put political processes in place to circumvent political violence. When the one stops working, the other becomes the obvious solution.
People have had their head in the sand on this for my entire adult life and if you're scared of things like court reform because you see yourself as a sensible Moderate I regret to inform you that court reform IS THE MODERATE SOLUTION and always has been. You don't want to hear the real solution.

This feels like a lesson many people on my own side are learning too late. It wasn’t great to give away all these powers to the executive, even if our guy was in charge at the time.
If your law is good when there are good people in office, but dangerous when there are bad people in office, your law is bad.
Separately and notably, GLAAD — which dropped its opposition to KOSA last year after changes to the bill, easing its path to Democratic support — told me it now wants lawmakers to review the bill in light of "changes in the FTC and other government leadership." www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

I remain convinced that if you pay taxes, you should get to vote. And I don’t mean the final April 15 resolution. If the government gets to take money from your check, you get a say in how it’s spent.

Having now spent 2+ years working in an elementary school, focusing money on the youth is the way to go. We need to be pouring money into programs for kids and schools. This is how we build a better future.

Government as a whole is a real conundrum - the systems of funding, permissions, and strictures is complex and needs understanding to effectively navigate and thus govern. So you want experienced people to both get your shit through and make sure it’s implemented the way you envision.

This is the most frustrating thing about this world. Even if we include wars, authoritarianism, social inequality, and inaction on climate change, there are perhaps fewer than 1,000 people behind them. Who have the power to manipulate everyone else. It's just stupid. We all deserve better. 🤷
All this bullshit around the world right now is happening because literally just a HANDFUL of motherfuckers are trying to avoid justice & reckoning for their previous crimes.
