It takes away from the games identity tbh, what's different between the newest black ops games and fortnite, or the new tony hawks skate games (remakes) and fortnite. It's just so damn depressing

I don't even play COD but BO6 and BO7 being the most recent examples of this. Almost every multiplayer game released nowadays has some TV show, video game, movie, etc. insertion into it and it's so generic and boring and I feel takes away from actual features of the game and just the game itself

I grow increasingly depressed every time a game has some fortnite metaverse style crossover where you can equip cosmetics from an entirely different game. It's such a tired concept, I just want to have my game exist as a game without it needing to have other-games cosmetics installed as cash grabs
