My first time sitting down with a real sample. Phase separated membrane in a yeast lysosomal vacuole. Green is the V-ATPase, in the liquid disordered domain, and magenta is Ivy1, a protein that associates with the liquid ordered domain. This vacuole is about 2 microns in diameter.

Today my @nytimes.com colleagues and I are launching a new series called Lost Science. We interview US scientists who can no longer discover something new about our world, thanks to this year‘s cuts. Here is my first interview with a scientist who studied bees and fires. Gift link: nyti.ms/3IWXbiE

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

I know the feeling! That's me in the last 9 years! My son was born in a free country with a president that one could be proud of, and 3 months later, the worst episode of American history took place-Trump was elected! What a different country this was... miss those days!

Every American who’s 1st amendment rights violated by ICE MUST file a lawsuit. Don’t just complain. Start the legal process to fight back. Follow the rule of law. That’s the only way we can reset the rule of law from Trumps lawlessness, is by following the law. Bury them in lawsuits. Contact ACLU

"Oh my God, the number of breast cancer diagnoses went up so much after we invented the mammogram!"

It doesn't mean that mammograms cause breast cancer. It means that before them, women just died.

The mystery of medical diagnosis!
Anyone: Why are there suddenly so many AHDH diagnoses?
Dr. Jen: Same reason there are suddenly more stars after we built telescopes.

Police.

It’s a core First Amendment principle. This is utterly lawless behavior, for which there will be no (short-term) consequences.

That he does it so casually, as they are walking away, in front of cameras.

Rightly confident in his impunity.
“[t]he freedom of individuals verbally to oppose or challenge police action without thereby risking arrest is one of the principal characteristics by which we distinguish a free nation from a police state.”

The pleasure these evil people take in "doing their job" by hurting others is astonishing. Never thought I would see (so often) officers having such behavior without repercussions!

The Purge is here, but it will last 1203 more days...
