Um, ICE just coldly shot an unarmed PRIEST in the head w a pepper ball when he (and everyone around him) clearly posed no threat.

For the crime of … complaining about government policy.

Core 1A speech.

With cameras rolling, they’re sniping priests for sport.

The University of Arizona's faculty senate has voted to ask the UA president to reject the Trump administration's proposed compact. It's among an accumulation of voices who say not to be tempted by the good things in the compact due to its more fundamental threats.

NEW: The Arizona Daily Star @tucson.com has obtained the letter by the Trump administration to the U of A. It shows there is little wiggle room in the "compact" that the White House is offering the U of A and eight other schools, as opposition builds locally.

White House wants only 'limited' feedback from U of A on proposed deal
In another development, two Tucson City Council members are asking the mayor and council to urge the University of Arizona against signing the White House deal.

My colleague @preranawrites.bsky.social broke the news Sept. 28 that new-student enrollment dropped by 19 percent from last year to this year at the University of Arizona. (Apologies, I deleted these posts by accident earlier. )

The University of Arizona has a new provost, Patricia Prelock, who strikes me as a strong hire. And she may turn out to be. Still, I was sad to see she (was?) enlisted in the effort to vigorously spin the UA's 19 percent drop in new-student enrollment this year.

Black people in Chicago had their apartment building raided in the middle of the night, were detained for hours, and had their Fourth Amendment rights violated during an ICE operation that had nothing to do with them. Nah, they are not thrilled.

I recently reported on an ICE officer who was publicly reprimanded and “relieved of his duties” after shoving a woman to the ground in an NYC immigration court. Well, he’s back.

DHS did not respond to a request for comment.

Every time DHS agencies want sympathy for their agents, they float these accusations but give zero proof just like Noem does here. BULLSHIT.

Interesting choice of Ellison to spin the acquisition as part of his broader effort to push tech and innovation across Paramount to cover it becoming yet another right-wing media network.

The suggestion Weiss has a “commitment to amplifying voices from all corners of the spectrum” is hilarious.

As you see the Ellisons’ use the husk of Paramount/CBS to hand out fiefdoms to conservatives, remember: This summer Paramount bribed Trump $16m at the cost of 60 Minutes’ integrity. FCC approval of the Ellisons’ takeover bid followed within a few days. Brendan Carr made this statement at the time.
Brendan Carr, Chairman, Federal Communications Commission:
President Trump is fundamentally reshaping the media landscape. And the way he's doing that is,
when he ran for election, he ran directly at these legacy broadcast media outlets, ABC, NBC, CBS.
For years, government officials just allowed those entities with execs sitting in Hollywood in New York to dictate the political narrative. And he has fundamentally changed the game. And you see that really having consequences that are just rushing all through media.

It's increasingly clear that the president lives in a constructed bubble of unreality designed by aides who are manipulating him in order to take control of US policy. Seems like an important story - wish media would cover it.

Here's what is in the Trump compact proposed to the University of Arizona. Some terms seem benign, others extreme, but the key is: If the feds decide you violated any of them, you must pay back all of your federal funding for that year. It's a sword of Damocles.
